Show utah people must vote down tax amendments a if selfish motives be excluded it is s hard to see why certain individuals so persistently seek to load an in come tax on the people of this state says the tribune the extravagant claims made for income taxation are not borne out by experienc lenco under it contrary to the assertions of its it s proponents it has not been thoroughly demonstrated it ha been enacted in only half a dozen 1 states and in none of them has it ac complis hed the purpose for which it was recommended it has had several years trial nationally aher its lin uncertainty certainty and inequities havi hav produced a new profession income ux tax experts while the government govern men employs thousands of persons who are engaged exclusively in attempt ing to adjust income tax errors and ambiguities almost every business of consequence has been compelled to create a tax department within its own organization in order to pro hect itself individuals suffer endless annoyance and loss and with all the thousands of persons publicly and privately employed and with all the millions of public and private money that have been in addition to the actual tax payments thousands of income tax of them years old await adjustment and final settlement there Is of course no hope for relief from federal income tax tor for a long time to come business and industry stry in st endure the uncertain ty and disturbance occasioned bv that form of government taxation but the people of utah do not have to submit to a double dose of it they can insure their freedom from double income tax by voting down the tax amendment and by ingis ing a d fashioned economy instead of ft lid experimentation in adminis tra lion tion of public affairs |
