He will remain in this capacity until the new Summit County Manager takes the helm! The contest embodies the love of the sport of rodeo along with a reminder of our western heritage. Qualities needed to win include portraying excellence in sportsmanship, high moral and ethical character, and careful and humane treatment of animals. This year's contest took place on Saturday, June 14, at the Fairgrounds Arena. Ten girls competed this year, with stiff competition all around. The girls each gave a 3minute speech about the tradition of the historic Summit County Fair, answered an impromptu question, were quizzed on their knowledge of the county and rodeo, gave a brief interview and competed in a horsemanship event, riding several patterns including a presentation ride. This year's winner Kassidy Jones wowed the judges with her horsemanship, public speaking abilities and modelling of western wear. Along with the title, Jones received a customized Rocking R Saddle, 2014 Summit County Rodeo Queen belt buckle and a crown. Some of these activities include the Oakley, Henefer and Park City 4th of July Parades, Kamas Fiesta Days Parade and The Days of '47 Parade in Salt Lake City. In addition to Rodeo Queen, titles were awarded to 1st Attendant, McKaylie Richins and 2nd Attendant Elise Bush and Miss Congeniality Fallon Richmond. In conjunction with the Miss Summit County Rodeo Queen contests, the Miss Little Buckaroo Rodeo Queen contest also took place. Following the same format, this contest judged young ladies in the County ages 9 — 14. This year's Little Miss Buckaroo Rodeo Queen is Gracelyn Hortin, 1st Attendant Aubree Jacobsen and 2nd Attendant /Miss Congeniality Emily Jaques. Event organizer Mardee Jones said "Summit County is lucky to have such a high caliber group of young ladies to represent us. They all did a wonderful job and it was fun being a part of such a wonderful contest." "Havin' a Good Time Since 1909" the Summit County Fair has been a part of the County's cultural and social fabric since the early 1909 and remains an active part of Summit County. For any news leads or Blotter • Suspicious at Promontory West Gate. A deputy was dispatched to suspicious incident at the west security gate at Promontory. A 21 year old male, drove from Wisconsin to attempt to "meet" singer who owns a home in Promontory. Suspect parked his car at Home Depot and then walked to their residence to avoid the security gate. Singer and her husband were home but did not want contact with the male, and requested he leave. He was detained by Promontory security. Suspect was advised that he was trespassed from promontory property. Suspect advised he would be going back to Wisconsin, and would not be a problem. Suspect and her husband were given information on obtaining a stalking injunction. • Burglary / Trespassing . Kamas City along with SC Deputies responded to a report of a burglary. The complainant reported hearing a noise in his house and when he walked into his living room found an unknown male at his back door. The male ran off towards Blazzard Lumber. Containment was established, K-9 Tank was called out as well as Wasatch County K-9 to search the area. After searching the area, there were no tracks located. • Retail Theft at store...The complainant (a store manager) reported that a male and female had just fled after being asked about the possible theft of a wireless router. Another store employee had previously witnessed the female place the router in her purse, attempt to buy cigarettes (but not the device) at the cash register and then eventually flee with the male, after they were stopped leaving the premises. Based upon an initial physical and clothing description, Suspects were seen shortly thereafter by two UHP troopers at Del Taco and stopped. Suspect claimed no knowledge of the incident and did not have a purse with her, while other suspect admitted seeing her place the router in her purse but claimed he did not know she had kept it. Both were subsequently booked for retail theft with one suspect also having a $215 warrant out of the Utah Co. Justice Court. • Criminal Mischief at Canyon Creek. Sometime over the weekend several buildings at Canyon Creek were tagged with "BK", "420" and "Bud King". The apartment thinks it might possibly be some juveniles that live in the building but there were no witnesses. Follow up is still being done. • Trespassing at Silver Springs Lake. Residents of the Silver Springs area advised a couple of men have been camping at the lake and had a fire last week. The neighbors were mostly upset because of the fire and they had been throwing beer cans in the lake. There was no one there when deputies responded but a tent and some blankets were collected as abandoned property. The complainant was advised to call if the men showed back up. • Criminal Mischief, at W. Lake Front Ct / Silver Springs. Complainant reported an unknown suspect had egged her car while it was parked unattended in the driveway of her residence between 1800 and 2300 hours this date, and that a neighbor's vehicle was vandalized with duct tape a few nights before. • A suspect was stopped for no insurance. During the stop it was found he also had no DL and had two active warrants. Suspect was taken into custody. During the vehicle inventory marijuana shake was observed. Rolling papers and two small baggies of marijuana were found in the car. Suspects admitted to having to papers and marijuana. Suspect was booked for no DL, no insurance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia and the two warrants. The car was state tax impounded for no insurance. • Shoplifting at Tanger Tommy Hillfliger - Suspect: Unknown - A Caucasian male walked into Tommy Hillfliger this afternoon and while staff wasn't looking put 40-50 shirts inside of bags he was carrying and left the store. As he left he set off the alarm. Employees said he left in a black sedan, unknown make or model. Suspect approximately 6', Caucasian, late 20s, brown hair. They were unable to burn the surveillance footage today but will call when they have it. • Fraud - A Hispanic male and female came into Zumiez and used three different cards to purchase gift cards and merchandise. The male appears to have a tattoo on his left forearm, is clean shaved and has short hair. After the couple left Zumiez was alerted that the cards were stolen but the couple had already left the area. This appears to be an operation where fake cards are made from stolen card numbers and using fake IDs. Ground-breaking on May 12 dirt flying! Turning the mounds of dirt into a reality! CHERYL OVARD SCN Editor The Production Movie Studio.At Quinn's Junction, there is dirt flying, then being pushed, and filled in holes completed and new ones dug for preparation for the $125 Million movie studio as it is "pushing" forward for the vertical construction. This "soon to be seen" reality" will be built on the 92,000 square feet of space, and will sport three buildings, three separate film sound stages, as well as a digital media cen- ter, mill and studio production offices.
