Fifth grade students, Jennifer Bodily and Kimbcrly Griffin, took notes and wanted to share this information they learned with the public: 1. There are 4,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke. 2. You can sometimes spend $2,000 a year on cigarettes. 3. Companies put fiberglass in chewing tobacco. 4. Companies offer free samples so teenagers get addicted. 5. Alcohol and tobacco use lead to stronger drug use. The National Guard showed the students a healthy lung and an unhealthy lung. Students were also shown the effects that tobacco can have on teeth. Some fifth grade students were given the opportunity to wear goggles that simulated how it would feel to walk under the influence of alcohol. The students loved the assembly and were grateful for the chance to climb the rock wall and demonstrate the good health and strength they have.
