Show roan April 15, 2005 oun The Summit County Bee Gas Prices Drive Upward Sheriff's Blotter Public Service Announcement: When planning your vacations, taking time to ensure the safety of your home while you are away is essential. Remember to have your newspaper cancelled and your mail held with the post office. There are thieves and vandals that look for accumulated papers as a clue to your absence. The^Summit County Sheriffs Office will be happy to provide property watches on your home while you arc away if you feel you need it. The property watch can be set up by calling our office and giving us the dates you will be away, a physical address and a contact number. Two hundred and thirty two incidents were reported. • Suspicious - Complainant advised two Hispanic females attempted to use a credit card and signed a different name than the one on the card. When asked for ID they left the store and took off in a van. • Burglary - Complainant advised his neighborslive in England and he was watching their home and had a key to it. Resident reported a door was open and the latch had been broken off and wanted an officer to respond to the scene. • Vandalism - Complainant told dispatch someone had placed tomatoes and salad dressing on several cars. • DUI - Caller advised of a possible driver that was alcohol impaired. Advised the driver of the pickup threw beer cans out of the window. • Citizen Assist - Cell phone caller reported a stalled vehicle at a traffic light. Caller said people were trying to push it out of the way and almost got hit twice. Traffic control was requested. • Shots Fired - Resident reported hearing what sounded like gunshots. Caller said it did not sound like avalanche control shots. • Vandalism - Complainant advised someone pried the lid open to the Water Tank in Oakley. The lank is over the water system and the caller Page A3 was concerned someone may have contaminated it. The water was tested and appeared to be okay. • ATL - An attempt to locate was broadcast for the driver of a semi tractor with flatbed trailer towing a wrecked trailer. Caller reported the semi had lost parts of its load. • Traffic Accident - Complainant reported a pickup hit a power pole. Caller advised that the line is arcing but was not down yet. • Criminal Mischief - Complainant reported he believed a tenant that moved from the building deliberately caused damage to some pipes. • Death - Complainant advised his brother was possibly suicidal. Caller advised the brother left a note advising of his intentions and took a .22 rifle with him when he left. • ATL - Cell phone caller reported the driver of a small car with Colorado plates that was speeding and swerving. The driver swerved across all travel lanes to exit at Kimball Junction. • Theft - The railroad reported the theft of two solar panels that was stolen from a train in Echo as it was parked for several days. • Wildlife Problem - Caller advised a herd of elk was seen in the median at Quinn's Junction. • Citizen Complaint - Resident reported a large male individual knocked on her door and her daughter answered it. A male said he was selling something and they said they were not interested. There was no vehicle close by and the male was not carrying any supplies. • Disorderly Conduct - Employee reported guests at a motel were supposed to check out and they didn't. Caller advised they were in their room smoking pot. • Controlled Substance Problem - Caller advised a suspicious looking vehicle was parked near an unused building. One of the van's rear tires was shredded and the spare tire was also flat. Caller said there were people moving around inside the van.
