Show Sports Page 6 Thursday, June 21, 2012 The Gunnison Valley Gazette 2A All-state Baseball Mdeisonnamed2A MYP Rylan Anderson Tyler Harris Ty Bartholomew Five members of the State Champion GVHS Bulldog baseball team have been named to the 2A All-state Baseball Team. Senior Rylan Anderson was named the 2A MVP and was placed on the First Team. Anderson finishes a great career as a Bulldog with a stellar senior year. This year Anderson played at the pitcher and catcher position. He was 9-0 from the mound recording a 1.09 ERA with 91 strikouts and went .488 from the plate. Rylan is the son of Mark and Deah Anderson of Gunnison. Ty Bartholomew also finishes a long career of Bulldog Baseball. Bartholomew, a senior, was placed on the First Team, he played at the catcher and pitcher positions. He went 11-1 from the mound with a 1.53 ERA. Bartholomew and Anderson were the Bulldog's co-MVPs this year. Ty is the son of Jeff and Brenda Bar- Deseret News 2A All-state Softball Congratulations to four members of the Gunnison Valley High School girls softball team for being named to the Deseret News 2A All-state Team. Senior Sara Brown was named to the First Team. Sara played short stop for the team. She had a .471 batting average, a .573 on base percentage and recorded 24 stolen bases. Sara is the daughter of Bart and Sunnie Brown of Fayette. Junior Morgan Overly played infield for the Lady Bulldogs and was placed on the All-state Second Team. She is the daughter of Derek and Charity Overly of Mayfield. Sophomores Sadee Sorensen and Alyssa Morgan were named to the Honorable Mention Team. Sadee pitched for the team. She is the daughter of Tom and Candice Sorensen of Centerfield. Alyssa's position was catcher. She is the daughter of Aaron and Vickie McClasky of Gunnison. Harris played outfield this year and was the team's batting champion. He hit .411 with 38 RBIs. Tyler is the son of Phil and Misty Harris of Centerfield. Junior Colby Caldwell was named to the Second Team. Caldwell played pitcher and short stop this year. Colby is the son of Kay C and Kim Caldwell of Gunnison. Senior Chase Christenson was placed on the 2A Honorable Mention Team. Christenson played 3rd base this year. He is the son of Mark and Kim Christenson of Centerfield. Dr. Zeluff is a graduate of the University of Arizona Medical School and completed an internship at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, Florida before serving an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Utah. He joins us after 30 years of medical practice in the Salt Lake Valley and military service in Afghanistan and Kuwait.
