Jarrett, a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather, and special friend to so many people, passed away July 8, 2011. He was born to Merl and Chloe Jarrett, parents of humble means, April 12, 1941, in Nephi, Utah. He married his sweetheart, Claudia Parkin, August 8, 1970, and together they built a life living in Mount Pleasant with their three beautiful children, Melissa (Ryan) Brewer, Tiffany (Scott) Hughes, and Tyson. Melvin had many talents and worked at many different occupations. He worked from the time he was a small boy on his family's farm. He herded turkeys, cooked at a café, blasted rocks, and was an oil rigger. He braided rubber hose for Gates Rubber Company for 20 years and ran heavy equipment for the Sanpete County Road Department for over 25 years. Melvin was a hard worker and made many lasting relationships with those he worked with. Melvin loved his neighbors and considered them family. He was very tender hearted towards animals especially his dogs CeCe and Belle. He al- Page 3 Elder David Crane returned June 30, 2011, after serving a full-time mission in the Maryland Baltimore Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. David spoke on July 10, 2011 in the Gunnison 5th Ward. David is the son of Shawn and Jan Crane of Gunnison and the Grandson of Richard and Ivy Crane of West Valley City and Jeri and the late Chad White of Magna. ways expressed gratitude to the doctors and nurses who labored to make him well. Beemus 1947-2011 Elder James Holmes Sorensen-Anderson Lane and Loreen Sorensen are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Cindy Marie, to Matthew Philip Anderson, son of Loren and Kathryn Anderson. The couple has chosen Friday, July 15th to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple. A garden reception will be held the following evening, July 16th, at 45 N. Lone Peak Drive, Alpine, Utah from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. In case if inclement weather, it will be held at 4245 W. Cedar Hills Dr., Cedar Hills, Utah. Cindy is a graduate of Gunnison Valley High School, Snow College, and Southern Utah University. She served an LDS mission in Ireland. Cindy currently teaches kindergarten in Eagle Mountain. Matt is a graduate of Lone Peak High School and BYU-I. He served an LDS mission in Alabama. Matt works as a web administrator for Soulence, a tax and accounting firm, in Draper. ACTION VIDEO PLUS 178 SOUTH MAIN, GUNNISON Elder James Holmes has been called to serve in the Maryland Baltimore Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will enter the MTC on July 20, 2011. He will speak at the Salina Stake Center on July 17 at 11 a.m. Elder Holmes is the son of Krista Hyer and Wallace Mecham of Salina and Brice and Tara Holmes of Richfield. He is the grandson of the late Roy J Hyer and Karen Hyer of Brigham City, Bart and Sherry Jacobsen of Weston, ID, and Duane and Vicky Utley of Richfield. Elder Holmes graduated from North Sevier High School in 2010. He was MVP in football, Track Star of the Year, Athlete of the Year, and a student body officer. We would like to thank the Gunnison 3rd Ward Bishopric & Relief Society, the Class of 1960, Dr. Wallentine, Central Utah Clinic, the Gunnison Valley EMT's, the Gunnison Valley Hospital, doctors and nurses, and to all those who sent flowers, food or helped in any way. Thank you so much for all you have done. The Family of Lee J. Anderson 435-S28-5204 GUNNIS ON, UTAH James Dale Beemus, age 63, died July 3, 2011 at his home in Gunnison. He was born December 21, 1947 in Gunnison, a son of Dale William and Alma Richine Brown Beemus. He graduated from Clearfield High School, Class of 1966. He attended Weber State College in Ogden. He joined the United States Navy in 1966 and served for 21 years, retiring as an Aviation Ordinance Chief (AOC). He served in Viet Nam and received a Purple Heart Accommodation. He married Velma Marie Roberts Acosta, March 9, 1982 in California. Jim was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Velma, of Gunnison; his children: Shannon and Mike Phaneuf of Oxnard, California; Karen Beemus of Hanford, California; Lora Ann and Vincenta Cajero of Kerman, California; James and Angie Beemus of Orangeville, California; Manuel and Robin Acosta of Pembroke Pines, Florida and Debbie and Nick Cozzuceli of Jupiter, Florida; 12.5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Susan Bennett, Becky Bennett, and Betty Williams. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 5 p.m. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services.
