Show Thursday, June 12, 2008 Obituaries Society The Gunnison Valley Gazette Wedding President Blaine Hilton 1939 - 2008 Bicknell, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Darwin Blaine Hilton, age 69, died June 6, 2008 in Manti, Utah where he was serving as Second Counselor in the Manti Utah Temple Presidency. Blaine was born March 21, 1939 in Rexburg, Idaho a son of Darwin Jensen and Ada Myrle Bagley Hilton. He graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho; attended Ricks College and Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He married Edda Gay Finlinson March 16, 1963 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Blaine served in the Army Reserves from 1957 to 1962. He served an LDS Mission in West Germany from 1959 - 1962. He served as Stake Mission Leader, Bishop, High Councilman, served in the Loa Utah Stake Presidency, Richfield Regional Welfare Agent, Patriarch, Sealer and Ordinance Worker, and was currently serving as second counselor in the Manti Utah Temple Presidency. Blaine worked for the Division of Wildlife Resources and retired in 2001 after 36 years of service. His cherished role was that of husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and serving others. He enjoyed singing in the choir. Blaine is survived by his loving wife, Edda Gay of Bicknell; his five children: Brian and Pam Hilton of Deming, New Mexico; Bret and Leisa Hilton of Fremont; Karalee and Craig Blake of Richfield; Julee and Dave Weller of St. George; Kyle and Jan Hilton of Orem; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; two sisters: Beverly and Brad Fransen of Rexburg, Idaho; Deanna and Brook Neff of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Hilton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or at the ward chapel in Bicknell, Tuesday morning from 11 to 12:30 prior to the services. Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Fillmore City Cemetery in Fillmore, Utah under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. On line guest book at: www.springerturner.com Steffan Terry Tuttle Albuquerque, NM - Steffan Tuttle, 21, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 from complications of a seizure. He was born March 18, 1987, American Fork, Utah to Russell Terry and Barbara Kay Kunzler Tuttle. Steffan love all sports and played wheelchair basketball. His favorite teams were the Utah Jazz and the Denver Broncos. He was more concerned about everybody else than himself and was a kind, loving, extremely special person. He touched everyone’s life who came in contact with him, giving much more than he took. Steffan is survived by his parents; siblings, Samuel, Skyler, Sean, Savannah; grandparents: Nancy Burdette, Mayfield, UT; Terry (Caroline) Tuttle; Glen Haven, CO; Earl (Verena) Kunzler, Lehi, UT. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 4 p.m. in the Mayfield LDS Chapel. Friends may call Saturday 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the ward chapel. She celebrated by going to Disneyland with her mom, dad, grandma Shari, Aunt Gabi, Aunt Jennie, Uncle Chris, and cousin Deklan. She will have a party with the rest of her family on Saturday, June 14th. Tenley is the daughter of Michael and Mekesha Wanner. Grandparents are Van and Shari Malmgren and Mike and RaeDene Wanner. Jensen - Blyth Bartley and Sherrie Jensen are pleased to announce the marriage of their son, Kurtis, to Kimberly Cairns Blyth, daughter of Robert and Ellen Blyth of Roseville, California. Kurtis and Kimberly were sealed in the Sacramento, California LDS Temple on May 31, 2008. A reception was held in their honor that evening at the Auburn Country Club in Auburn, California. Golden Anniversary Karl & Karen Christiansen Karl and Karen Jensen Christiansen will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on June 12, 2008. Family and friends gathered together on May 17th in Draper, Utah to honor this achievement. This wonderful union has been blessed with four daughters; Laurie (Fred) Christiansen, Cheryl (Larry) Sumsion, Jana (Mike) Pratt, Nichole (Chris) Mallory, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Page 3 Dr. Brian Sorensen Dr. Brian Sorensen recently graduated with honors from the College of Dentistry at Ohio State University. Brian, Karen and twoyear-old Tanner are now living in Mt. Pleasant where he will soon begin his practice. They are very happy to be back in Utah. Brian is the son of Lane and Loreen Sorensen of Gunnison and the grandson of Irma Sorensen and Hazel Cahoon. He is the third son of four boys of Lonnie and Ethel Nay. He was raised in Centerfield and attended the schools in Centerfield and Gunnison. LeEarl married Nola Mae Rosenlund on January 12, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on January 12, 1963. Soon after their marriage they moved to Murray where they raised their three children, Robert, Gerald and Debra. LeEarl had his own drywall business and worked for many construction companies. He later worked independently building and remodeling homes and businesses. After retirement, Nola and LeEarl moved back to Gunnison to live in Nola’s family home. LeEarl’s hobbies in- clude hiking in the mountains and deserts, keeping an immaculate yard and garden and making furniture and items for his family and friends. LeEarl is very proud of his family, especially his eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A family dinner will be held to celebrate LeEarl’s birthday. Bruce Barton The family of Bruce J. Barton would like to invite all family and friends to an open house to help celebrate his 80th birthday. Come and join us on Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Liberty Hall Reception Center, 87 N. Main Street in Manti. The son of Hazel and Alden K. Barton, Bruce was raised with three brothers and two sisters. As a young boy, he fed sheep and cattle and worked on the farm hauling hay. He spent his summers on the mountains taking care of the sheep. In high school, Bruce was very active in FFA and received the State Farmer’s Degree. He was Jr. Prom King, very active in music, both in the band and the choir. He played in a dance band with Devon Anderson and crew all over southern Utah every weekend. He graduated from Manti High and received a full scholarship to Utah State University where he went for four years. At USU, he also played the tenor saxophone in the band and pep band that followed the football and basketball players all over the country. Bruce married Barbara Jane Funk September 7, 1951 in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with five children: Mary Ruth, Dianne, John, Becky and Roger. They have 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Bruce recently retired from a very successful sheep business that he owned, operated and managed for over 50 years. He is active in his church. He has served as Elder’s Quorum President, as well as other positions; president of the Lions Club, president of the Sanpete Wool Grower’s and has been active in Utah Wool Grower’s and Farm Bureau. Bruce is a hard worker, caring and is kind to all people and animals. Thank You! On May 29th, Centerfield Cub Scouts had Pack Meeting. We set up games, we had a Frisbee throw, dug for gold, had a water balloon toss and a bean bag toss. It was real fun. I would like to thank everyone who helped make it possible.
