Jake Childs, the son of Larry and Kristal Childs of Gunnison, has accepted a call to serve in the Utica New York Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He will report to the Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, July 18. Jake is a member of the Gunnison 2nd Ward and will be speaking in sacrament meeting on July 15 at 1:30 p.m. Jake is the grandson of Jay and Janet Childs, Gunnison, and Charles and Elizabeth Payton of Oakley, Idaho. They were married in the Sacramento LDS Temple on Saturday, July 7, 2007. A garden reception will be held in their honor at the Rosenvall residence, 120 South 440 East in Gunnison, on Saturday, July 14th, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Brittany graduated from Oakridge High School in California and has completed three years of the Dietetics program at BYU. Christopher graduated from Gunnison Valley High School. He served an LDS mission to Campinas, Brazil and graduates from BYU in August 2007 with a Major in English and a Minor in Portuguese. Later in July the couple will move to Dallas, Texas where they will both continue their education. Chris will begin his studies at Baylor College of Dentistry, and Brittany will complete her degree in Dietetics at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas.
