He served an LDS mission in Northern California, then married Edna Blanche Thompson in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they had four children: Boyd, Betty (Mendenhall Stewart), Mark and Brent. He even built a bridge over his creek in Spring City out of telephone poles. He also loved to travel, whether by road (across the country many times, and from Central America to Alaska) or Anthony “Tony” Hansen on one of many cruises. An article in last week’s Messenger reported that Mayfield Mercantile was on a list of Sanpete businesses that had sold tobacco to underage, undercover youth. While that is true, a clarification is in order. The illegal sale took place while Mayfield Mercantile was under different ownership than it is now. The current owner took over the store in Dec. 2007. The illegal sale referred to in last week’s article occurred under the previous ownership several months prior, sometime in the summer of 2007. The Messenger sincerely regrets any misconceptions the article may have caused. Offer good thru Feb. 28 C M C M Y K Y K |
