The county auditor’s office announced that employees could leave the building if they wished. Jury selection for a trial was in progress at the time. Judge David L. C enterfield Accident claims one, injures another By Alec Barton CENTERFIELD—Icy road conditions and excessive speed contributed to a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a passenger and serious injuries to a driver. Just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, a 21-year-old unidentified man was driving near the 200 North and 400 West intersection in Centerfield in an area described by the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office as a “washboard dirt road.” According to a Sanpete County Sheriff ’s report, the man was apparently driving too fast for conditions, and his vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Am, spun out of control. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle veered off the side of the road and landed on its wheels facing east. The passenger, a 48-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries in the accident, and the driver suffered a broken neck. His condition had not been released at press time. Both men were migrant workers who resided in Centerfield. One was employed at the Dyreng Farm, near where the accident occurred.
