She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Missions Judy Chamberlain and Aaron Sorenson Judy Chamberlain, daughter of Lyle and Jan Chamberlain of Ephraim, and Aaron Sorenson, son of Garth and Jacque Sorenson of Manti, have chosen Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, to be married in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception will be held in their honor that evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Manti Tabernacle, 90 S. Main St. The bride graduated from Snow College this spring, and the bridegroom recently returned from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kennewick, Wash. Both are graduates of Manti High School and are continuing their education at Brigham Young University. The couple will make its first home in Provo. Jacobson - Soper Homecoming Brandon Puett California Carlsbad Mission Brandon Puett returned home Wednesday, Dec. 3 from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Carlsbad, Calif. Brandon will report on his mission Sunday, Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. in the Manti 2nd Brandon Puett Ward, which meets at the Manti Tabernacle. Weddings Austin Korry Soper and Laney Verdeen Jacobson Wendell and Melba Jacobson of Fountain Green announce the marriage of their daughter, Laney Verdeen, to Austin Korry Soper, son of Korry and Karen Soper of Manti, on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception will be held in the couple’s honor that evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Jacobson family cabin, two miles west of State Street on 100 South in Fountain Green. The bride is a graduate of North Sanpete High School and LDS Seminary. She recently graduated as a master aesthetician from Acaydia School of Aesthetics in Provo. She weighed 8 pounds. M Kenneth Buckland Kortlyn Brotherson Kortlyn Elizabeth Brotherson, daughter of Jared and Elizabeth Brotherson of Wales, was born Nov. 19, 2008, at Timpanogas Regional Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Kortlyn was welcomed home by her sisters, Addelyn and Lakely. Grandparents are George and Peggy Dyches of Moroni, and Terry and LuCinda Brotherson of Mt. Pleasant. Great-grandparents are Phil and Sandra Johnson of Mt. Pleasant. C State University, where she is majoring in education. Sean is the son of Doug and Brooke Rowley of Santaquin. He graduated from Payson High School and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile. He is majoring in agricultural business at Utah State University. Kenneth Ellsworth Buckland Kenneth Ellsworth Buckland of Axtell, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Nov. 30, 2008, in Provo. He was 67. Kenneth was born July 21, 1941, in San Jose, Calif. to Kenneth Durery and Helen Willson Buckland. He married Judy Bruno on June 24, 1964. Their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple in 1971. Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. He worked for SUFCO Mine for 26 years, where he earned the nickname “One More Job.” He farmed and raised livestock for most of his life. Kenneth had a strong love for life and family. He served in numerous callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including his most recent callings with the Boy Scouts of America and in family history. He was an avid temple attendee. Kenneth had a quiet strength and humility admired by many. He was generous with his time to help out a friend or loved one. He enjoyed working with his hands, as was evident by the time he spent working on bows and handmade knives. Ken is survived by his wife, Judy, of Axtell; sons Nathan (Connie) Buckland of Axtell, and Gene (Michelle) Buckland of Idaho; daughters Stacy (Thom) Stafford of Gunnison, and Amy (Eric) Druding of Sandy; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and siblings David (Judy) Buckland of Half Moon Bay, Calif., and Midge Buckland of Fallon, Nev. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Axtell LDS Chapel. Burial was in the Axtell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
