Colt Christiansen and Crystal Cummings Crystal Cummings. the daughter of Cori and Randy Nielson of Ephraim and Marvin and Tammy Cummings of Mesquite, Nev., and Colt Christiansen, the son of Gerald and Jennifer Christiansen of Manti, have chosen to start their lives together on Sat., Oct. 28, 2006. They will be married and celebrate with a family dinner at the Ephraim Co-op. Farewell Wednesday, October 25, 2006 Morgan Morgan Lewis Miller, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Oct. 12. He was born Dec. 5, 1933 in Manti to Martha Mickelson and Clement Miller. Morgan held many leadership positions and was active in student government, serving as most preferred man, class president and student body president at Manti High School. He earned a master's degree at Brigham Young University and a PhD in microbiology and immunology at the University of Utah. He worked as a research scientist both at the University of Utah and the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and had articles published in scientific journals. Morgan was a renaissance man who had a great love for, and often quoting, the great poets. He was also an avid reader of literature, scientific journals. Time magazine and the daily newspaper, always working the daily crossword puzzle. He enjoyed listening to jazz music and watching the Kentucky Derby. He loved to come home to Sanpete for the pheasant hunt and to go fishing. He was a people person and a great conversationalist always asking, "What's new?" He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Morgan Lewis Miller day Saints serving as a stake clerk and High Councilor. Morgan was proud of his pioneer heritage. He has four generations of ancestors on both parents' lines buried in the Manti City Cemetery. Morgan is survived by his three children. Stan (Shanna) Miller, Jenny (Alien) Chrisiensen, and Philip Miller; and grandchildren, Calvin and Abel Christcnsen and Marijke Miller. He is also survived by siblings, Rodney (Lily Jane) Miller, Paul (Sylvia) Miller and Marilyn Miller. Kurt and Lois Sorenson and boys CHECK THE PAPER ONLINE AT WWW.SANPETEMESSENGER.COM! Fern Larsen Jorgenson, 93, of Ephraim passed away Oct. 17 (just 3 weeks short of her 94th birthday.) in Ephraim. Fern was born Nov. 13,1912 in Ephraim to Christian Rudolph and Bertha Bessey Larsen. She lived 10 happy years in Chester, from ages 7-17. She moved back to Ephraim and graduated from Ephraim High School. She lived the rest of her life in Ephraim. She married Richard Alma Jorgenson on Nov. 29, 1933 in Manti. The marriage was solemnized on Jan. 3, 1934. She made many quilts and afghans for her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook, and was famous for her delicious apple pies and applesauce cookies. Fern was known as a very hard worker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities. Her family was the joy of her life. Fern is survived by her children, Gerald (Peggy) of Orem, Beth (Ted) Braithwaite of St, George, Keith (Roberta) of St. George, Mark (Paula) of Moroni and Darol of Lacey, Wash. Also, sisters, Geneil (Jerry) DeMill of Centerville, Joyce Story of Pleasant Grove; brother, Boyd (Norma) Larsen of Ephraim; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband; daughters, JoAnn and Julene; one baby boy; parents; brother, LaMar Larsen; sister, Ruth Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Astrid Larsen and Joy Jensen. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 23 in the Ephraim Stake Center. Interment was in the Ephraim City Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary. l*Pj| sanpetemessenger. com Emerson Cook Emerson T. Cook returned home to his Heavenly Father on Oct. 22 at age 81. He was born Oct. 14, 1925 to Thomas Henry Cook and Anna Elizabeth Nielson Cook in Fountain Green. He graduated from Moroni High School and attended Utah State University for one year. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 at age 18 and served in World War II as a ball-turret gunner on a B-17. After the war, he returned to Fountain Green, leaving only to attend gunsmith school in Denver, Colo, and Brigham Young University in Provo. He married LuJane Christiansen of Fountain Green in the Manti Utah Temple of the LDS Church on July 7, 1948. Together they had three children, Joseph Dean, Dwight Emerson and Gwen. They have 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Emerson was a farmer and livestockman in Fountain Green, 'raising turkeys, sheep and cattle for more than 50 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including ward clerk, member of the Seventy, Elders Quorum presidency, High Priest group leader and temple worker. He proudly served on the Fountain Green City Council, the Fountain Green Irrigation Company Board and the Fountain Green Lions Club. His greatest loves were his family, his church, his farm, hunting, fishing for salmon in Idaho and skiing. He is survived by his wife, Emerson T. Cook LuJane; three children, Joseph Dean (Ruth) Cook of Fountain Green; Dwight Emerson (Patti) Cook of Fountain Green; and Gwen (Neal) Peacock"of Castle Dale; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Pershing J. (Darlene) Cook of Bel Fouche, S. D.; and Thomas Kayle (Barbara) Cook of St. George. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph, Joseph and Kermit Cook; and sisters, Phyllis Memmott and Odessa Olsen and by his beloved grandson Thomas Joseph Cook. Funeral services will be held Thursday Qct. 26 at 11 a.m. in the Fountain Green LDS Chapel. There will be a viewing from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
