Show EUREKA AND DELTA ON SCENIC TOUR TAKING IN interesting SECTION OF UTAH I 1 the following story dealing wit with h what Is called the scenic loop was published in the last issue of the delta chronicle and the report er Is pleased to give it space the starts from salt lake city it Is supposed that that city has exploited to him all its attract eions that he has visited saltair cottonwood brighton the sky line boulevard that he has taken the side trip to bingham the wonder copper camp ol 01 the world and seen those twenty two steam shovels slicing away an actual mountain of low grade ore it Is assumed that he has taken in the smelters at gar field and point of mountain and he Is ready to go on now we get him jve we ask him to follow the paved road to santaquin San and then cut over through elberta to eureka that way being 90 miles at eureka the commercial club takes him and his party down some of the largest mines in that great metal producing camp that camp where millions have been taken from the depths of the earth he Is in a town of 4 people with big stores large garages good eats and bis his afternoon Is spent in pleasure in the mines the picture houses or the clubs leaving eureka he takes the new and good road already built to lynn dyl direct well surfaced and gets to delta in 66 55 miles from eureka he ile is then miles out of salt lake via santaquin San at delta he eats noon lunch and visits the farms of this region it he wishes to and as we wish him to if it not he takes the grand central highway out through hinkley and in miles he Is at the famous leh man mans s cave in baker nevada that wonder pressing a close second on the mammoth cave of kentucky he has a phone every five or ten miles I 1 to ak er he e loops bopa back and hits milford via newhouse in 97 miles a good town to care tor for his wants As he proceeds on from milford he goes to beaver deaver and thence to cedar city cedar city the live town the town with spirit has already creat ed for him a 00 hotel a corn com effort knowing the ands and thousands who pass through cedar that live awake corn com caters to the makes him stay and linger longer in and around that pretty little town they have an easy road to the famous bryce canyon and back he comes after seeing that wonder eating again at cedar and staying at that finely appointed hotel of course his objective coming or going is zion national park that yosemite in oils the most advertis ed late attraction of the united states so he leaves cedar and in an easy stage is at zion does he want to go to the grand canyon there it Is open to him by a quick route next after zion the southern confederation of corn com mercial clubs has seen to that and cedar panguitch parowan carowan st george all the southern towns under secretary jo genson have thought big and put a route on the map the scenic wonders ot of utah are in a direct chain and that chain has now taken our tourist halt half way through he can retrace his steps from the giand grand canyon back to st george and glide into los angeles the same may a or be he can make the loop back up from the grand canyon through panguitch Pan gultch into richfield then over ol 01 course to fish lake the sports man mans s paradise back to salina gun nison nephi provo and home again in salt lake |
