Show coinage of silver dollars resumed at normal rate 0 after a slowing down in june and july the philadelphia mint has re fumed coinage of standard silver dollars at the rate of per N day minting has been increased from initial daily output of 25 when coinage was resumed late in february to in may but with the annual settlement at close of june output fell considerably july was 2 pieces but will be considerably increased this month mints at san francisco and den ver yer also are turning out a n bial amount of dollars dally daily the dol lars are stored atthe mints where coined about 15 being lock ed in the valets at philadelphia dollars are being coined under the pittman act which authorizes replacement of 54 dollars melted during and following th tho war a large part of which found their way in bullion to india aaita tion continues tor for repeal of the pitt man act but in mining circles belief holds firm that the administration will live up to promises made to sll sil ver producers prior to passage of t th pittman act last year the secretary of the tile treasury directed the mint to pur chase ounces of silver under the pittman act and to date k roandl roundly 65 ounces have been purchased the treasury pays a fixed price of fl 1 for silver which must be the product of american mines and refineries |
