LTER8 AND RAILROADS KILLING MINING INDUSTRY , An item in the daily papers of this week indicate that the smelters of Utah, instead of trying to reduce their rates thus permitting a revival of mining operations, are still reaching out for more money. - Their . policy of greed will undoubtedly ruin the state's greatest industry and bring disaster upon themselves. Smelters of Utah have, during the past few months, been able to greatly reduce their operating expenses but no effort has been made to readjust the present high smelting charges which make it next to impossible for the mines to continue operations, in fact many properties have been forced to dose because of the excessive charges .levied by the smelters and by the railroads. The item referred to above, appeared under a Park City date line, and reads as follows: Mine owners and leasers have- received another jolt which will add jto the burdens of both and make it harder for both to keep things moving until such time as readjustments stimulate and revi go rate the mining industry. Because of the increase in smelting charges the 1921 contracts signed by the leasers will reduce their net returns on all ore shipped by them - Every day is a good day in which to make good resolutions and to keep them. . - o t Women jump at conclusions and frequently hit; men reason things out logically and usually miss. - - o .
