Ogden Canyon residents will have access and be allowed to enter the canyon by showing flaggers their identification. Commuters will need to use alternate routes, i.e., the North Ogden Divide and Trapper’s Loop. The public is invited to attend a community meeting on Tuesday, November 7 at the Ogden Valley library in Huntsville. The meeting will be held in the library’s community room at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will provide an update on the Ogden River Watershed Plan from consultant Redfish Environmental. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to capture public feedback. The meeting will also offer an opportunity for input on a 319 grant application for Information and Education projects to help empower residents regarding water quality issues in their community. Haymond, M.D., Dreams for Snowcrest Softball Players with 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award A local valley resident By Shanna Francis On October 5, a new softball field for Snowcrest’s Lady Skyhawk softball team was dedicated then swiftly initiated with the first game on the new field. Much excitement and fanfare were made on the beautiful fall day. Snowcrest’s new softball field was built to professional standards. One-hundred-fifty tons of soil materials were removed from the field and replaced with top-grade a DuraEdge ballfield playing surface mix—a composite of clay, sand, and silt that absorbs standing water, making it ideal for little leagues to the big leagues. A clay composite was built up underneath the batter and pitcher mounds, and fencing materials were fitted with safety rails. The outfield was also smoothed out, with ruts, bumps, and holes filled and leveled. The new rates include a 2-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp, from 66 cents to 68 cents. The proposed adjustments, approved by the governors of the Postal Service, would raise mailing services product prices approximately 2 percent. If favorably reviewed by the commission, the price changes would include: Proposed Changes Letters (1 ounce), from 66 to 68 cents Letters (metered 1 ounce), from 63 to 64 cents Domestic Postcards, 51 to 53 cents International Postcards, $1.50 to $1.55 International Letter (1 ounce), $150 to $1.55 There will be no change to the additionalounce price, which remains at 24 cents. The Postal Service is also seeking price adjust- Weber County Installs Methane-toElectricity Generator at Landfill Facility Weber County recently celebrated the installation of a groundbreaking methane-to-electricity generator at an old landfill facility. Stephanie Russell, Weber County’s Economic Development Director, expressed her enthusiasm for this innovative project, distinguishing it from typical infrastructure initiatives such as water or sewer projects. The collaboration with local businesses, exemplified by the support of Qnergy, aims to harness methane’s potential as a clean energy source while, at the same time, combatting its environmental impact as a potent greenhouse gas. Qnergy’s CEO Ory Zik underscored the environmental importance of converting methane into useful energy, given its status as one of the most potent greenhouse gas polluters.
