Show Volume XXX Issue IV The Ogden Valley News Page 13 October 1, 2023 A Visit to Eden’s Bower Lodge By student reporters Sienna Jane Hyatt and Rose Blanchard Today we had the pleasure of interviewing Joshua Devlin, the manager of Bower Lodge. Bower Lodge is located in Eden, Utah at 3926 N. Wolf Creek Dr. We walked into the building and saw lots of tables and chairs. It didn’t look like your typical restaurant because the tables and chairs were really spaced apart. It seemed very cozy inside. The pizza oven is really cool looking. There was a couch and dining area outside on a balcony that overlooks the golf course. It was very peaceful and beautiful. There is a place where you can play cornhole outside with another couch where others can sit and watch. Inside there is also a couch. We sat on it and it was so cozy. There was a table with a drawer full of games such as Monopoly. All the items on the menu look delicious and there is a wide variety of food. Rose said she would like to Above are Jane Hyatt and Rose Blanchard with Joshua manager of Bower Lodge. visit Bower Lodge on Thursdays for pizza night. She would order pepperoni pizza with tomatoes. The mozzarella stuffed meatball or grilled artichoke appetizers would also be delicious. For dessert, she would like to try the cream cheese semifreddo with strawberry rhubarb chutney and streusel. Sienna said that she wanted to try the Brioche French Toast from the brunch menu. It has chocolate, fresh berries, powdered sugar, and maple syrup. From the dinner menu, she said she would definitely pick the grilled cheese. It comes with fries and an option of bacon. She’d also say yes to bacon! For dessert, the cast iron chocolate chunk cookie with vanilla ice cream and strawberry sugar sounded great to her. Joshua said his favorite food on the brunch menu was the jalapeno-cheddar chicken & waffles, which is kind of southern. If you don’t go for pizza night on Thursday, you could try the lunch menu that has sandwiches nachos, burgers, and salads. Josh says he enjoys providing great food and service. He says the most difficult part of his job is finding staffing. If you need a job, or just a good meal, you should definitely check out Bower Lodge! Currently a resident of St. Louis, the 31-year-old Dinan represented Missouri at the national pageant, where she won more than $100,000 worth of cash and prizes. In December, she will represent America in the Mrs. World competition. Never having previously competed in a pageant, Dinan stated that she was surprised by her win in the Mrs. Missouri competition held in July of 2003. Dinan is a part-time model and has a dream of writing children’s books. Above are Karma Friends at work encouraged the Missouri girl with Peterson, Heidi Dinan, and Kelsi Utah roots to enter the pageant. Dinan. Heidi is married to Jeffery Dinan. Together they have an 8-yearold daughter named Kelsi. Mrs. Utah Rachelle Joseph of Salt Lake City was named first runner-up to Dinan. Heidi is the daughter of Karma Peterson, and granddaughter of Beatrice Peterson, both of Huntsville. Her 14-year-old brother Mark attends Valley Elementary. Her uncles Craig, Lynn, and Orville Peterson; and aunt Sonya Hartmann also live in Ogden Valley. Fifty percent of the Mrs. America Pageant judges’ selection decision is based on results -------- Skyhawks of the Month -------September’s Super Starters! from the evening gown and swimsuit competition. The remaining 50% is weighted from the interview portion of the competition. In a final round of questions right before being named, judges asked Dinan, “Who is your favorite female role model, and why would you aspire to be like her? She firmly replied, “Helen Keller.... She was a woman of courage and optimism, and although she had experienced many difficulties, she was able to overcome those obstacles. Her focus was on the sun and not on the shadows behind her. Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement, and nothing can be done without hope and confidence. If Helen Keller could do that [which she accomplished], I can do anything. If Helen were still alive, I would thank her for being so strong and so full of courage.” When asked by The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS how she felt about being crowned Mrs. America, she responded, “I feel so truly humbled. It’s an awesome opportunity and responsibility, and an honor to be an example, and to make a difference in other people’s lives. I’ve always wanted to make a difference in other people’s life, and now I feel that God has given me a chance. I feel it is a gift to connect with others, no matter what their age.” Asked about her advice to other women, “Look inside and find what truly makes you happy, and then go after your dreams, and use these dreams for the greater good.” Heidi’s mother Karma added that Heidi has always been goal oriented. She’s as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. But it is her inner beauty that really radiates and connects with other people. She is an example and teacher to me.” Congratulations, Heidi! EDEN WATER WORKS cont. from page 1 sewer from the Eden Commercial area (if built). For more information, call 801-791-1772 or N.
