Show Page 4 The Ogden Valley News Volume XXX Issue IV October 1, 2023 Dark Nightmare Haunted Attraction October Fun @ Ogden Valley Branch Library We are back again this year with our Haunted House Event in Huntsville at 8949 Eagle Way! This year we will host the event for four nights—Fridays and Saturdays, October 20 and 21; and October 27 and 28—from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. By request, we have added day events from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. to make it more fun for little kids and adults too! We will be doing a kidfriendly haunt each day “without actors and no active animatronics,” trunk-or-treat, artisan market, and food trucks. Buy your tickets in advance by scanning the included QR code or you can pay in person. You will also need to sign and complete the waiver if purchasing tickets online or onsite at the event. We are also adding a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish (MAW) Foundation of Utah. As many in the Valley know, Jackson Barber (creator of Dark Nightmare Haunted Attraction and Eccles School of Business Student at University of Utah), is a leukemia survivor. He was diagnosed at three years of age and went through three years of treatment. This foundation is near and dear to his heart and is very passionate about helping kids who suffer from critical illnesses. There is a separate tab to donate to MAW or the donation page will pop up after you purchase your ticket(s). You can also donate onsite. Hope to have an awesome turnout! This month’s title: A Tale of Archaeological Plunder and Obsession by Craig Childs. To whom does the past belong? Is the archeologist who discovers a lost tomb a sort of hero—or a villain? If someone steals a relic from a museum and returns it to the ruin it came from, is she a thief? A vibrant and passionate controversy rages around these issues, just beneath the dusty surface of what most people imagine to be the staid field of archaeology.
