The temporary venue, affectionately dubbed “Fort BDO” by OFOAM, is located at 600 N. Depot Drive in Ogden, just south of the Weber County Fairgrounds. The decision to relocate was made after county of昀椀cials con昀椀rmed that flooding at Fort Buenaventura is not expected to subside before June. La Marisoul Joins Los Texmaniacs at Ogden Music Festival Grammy award-winning artists Eva “La Marisoul” Hernández, of LA-based band La Santa Cecilia, and San Antonio’s Tejano conjunto Los Texmaniacs will take the main stage in support of their newly released joint album Corazones and Canciones at Ogden Music Festival, presented by Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music (OFOAM), which takes place June 2-4 at “Fort BDO,” 600 N. Depot Drive in Ogden. Please note this year’s change of venue. Known for her booming, soulful vocals, La Marisoul has been a mainstay in the Latin music scene for over a decade, bringing a unique blend of Mexican and American influences from her dual upbringing in both countries. “The sense of belonging that being part of the Mexican American community can bring” is one of the feelings that La Marisoul and Max Baca, Albuquerque-born Los Texmaniacs’ leader and baja sexto maestro, say they hope to convey in the new album (April, 2023 Smithsonian Folkways). Corazones and Canciones is a testament to the importance of Mexican American music to the American Roots tradition. La Marisoul says the music is “just as American as it is Mexican and Tejano and Californiano, and it’s beautiful.” Each of the 昀椀fteen Mexican American classics on the album were chosen for their emotional power and heart. “Adding La Marisoul brings the perfect California-Mexican cultural mix to the Tex-Mex vibe of Los Texmaniacs,” says OFOAM founder Michelle Tanner. “So much cultural history!” Together, La Marisoul and Los Texmaniacs are sure to deliver an unforgettable performance at the Ogden Music Festival. Single day tickets on Sunday, the day they take the stage, are $25. Kids 16 and under may attend free. This is one of the most diverse lineups in the festival’s history with award-winning artists representing a broad spectrum of cultures and American Roots music including folk, soul, tejano, bluegrass, and more. Camping on site is available throughout the weekend festival, along with workshops, latenight campground jams, art vendors, a kid zone with instrument petting zoo and arts & crafts, morning yoga, a kids’ parade, and dining from some of the best local food and beverage vendors.
