Megan McKenna Our 4th annual PCSD avalanche class, made possible with a generous grant from the PCEF, was free and open to all district 8th-12th graders. The students participated in two after school sessions that focused on the science of avalanches and forecasting and one field session where they got hands-on experience looking at the snow, forecasting avalanches, examining avalanche debris, practicing search and rescue techniques, collecting weather data, and observing the avalanche dogs.
