Thursday, Oct. 24 Park City Film: ‘Long Gone Wild’ Park City Film will present a free screening of Bill Neal’s documentary, “Long Gone Wild,” not rated, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the upcoming & ongoing Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. Neal, who lives in Park City, made the documentary as a follow-up to Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s 2013 Sundance Film Festival film “Blackfish,” which exposed the abuse of killer whales at Seaworld. “Long Gone Wild” shows that despite concessions by SeaWorld, its orcas are still performing every day, and in Eastern Russia killer whales are hunted for sale into the growing marine theme-park industry in China. Audiences will get a look at the case against captivity, the promise of The Whale Sanctuary Project, covert missions in Russian waters and the search for nine orcas held captive at a secret location in China. Park City Film: ‘Brittany Runs a Marathon’ Park City Film will present Paul Downs Colaizzo’s “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” rated R, from Friday, Oct. 25, to Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. Friday and Saturday screenings will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday’s screening starts at 6 p.m. “Brittany Runs a Marathon” is a funny and uplifting story of believing in yourself and determination to achieve your goals. Brittany, played by Jullian Bell, always knows how to have a good time, but at 27, her late-night adventures and early-morning walks-of-shame are starting to catch up to her. When she stops by a Yelp-recommended doctor’s office, she finds herself slapped with a prescription she never wanted. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $7 for students and senior citizens. The SteelDrivers at the Egyptian Theatre Grammy-winning bluegrass band SteelDrivers will perform Friday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Egyptian Theatre, 328 Main St. The Friday and Saturday concerts will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday’s show will start at 6 p.m. The band is composed of fiddler Tammy Rogers, banjoist Richard Bailey, mandolinist Brett Truitt, guitarist Kelvin Damrell and bassist Mike Fleming. CONNECT also hosts a support group for parents and guardians of school-age youth from 4-5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at Parley’s Park Elementary School Counseling Center, 4600 Silver Springs Drive. This group covers topics relevant to all people struggling with any type of disordered eating. Some topics include, but are not limited to; intuitive eating, body image, emotional eating, triggers and coping skills, mindfulness, and self esteem.
