Show Wed/Thurs/Fri, October 16-18, 2019 A-7 The Park Record Obituaries Wallace Earl “Wally” Buchanan February 11, 1942 – October 7, 2019 Our beloved grandfather, father, brother and uncle peacefully departed this life in Huntington Beach, California Oct. 7, 2019. Born Feb. 11, 1942 to Woodrow Wilson and Mary Louise Buchanan in Salt Lake City, Wally lived most of his life in Salt Lake City, and later in Park City, prior to moving to Huntington Beach. Wally was very involved in Rotary International, having been a charter member of the first club formed in Park City, where he served as President. He was a member of the Huntington Beach Rotary club. He truly lived the motto “service above self”. He was instrumental in both clubs for heading up efforts to continue and expand the Rotary Chinese/ American high school foreign exchange student program, making a lasting impact on the Wallace Earl “Wally” Buchanan lives of hundreds of high school students from both countries. He also assisted in many other service projects for over forty years. Never one to shy away from adventure, Wally loved to fly his Piper Arrow airplane every chance he got. Anywhere, anytime. He was even so bold as to fly solo to England and back, as well as to the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean, and hundreds of other destinations across the United States and Mexico. Preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Warren and Gerald, and sister Nancy. Survived by his wife Siyan, his brother Wes (Maureen), his two sons Scott and Alan, grandchildren whom he truly adored, Audrey and Rory, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Wally, your salty sense of humor and your “what’s for dinner” will be missed by us all.
