There will be more inspection stations this year than in past years. PERFORMANCE TRAINING Coached by two-time Olympian and former U.S. Ski Team athlete Jillian Vogtli, the PC MARC’s performance training is intended to provide specific instruction on reaching health and workout goals. Classes begin on Tuesday, May 21 and are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. Registration is available online at parkcityrecreation.org or by calling 435-615-5401. PC WOMEN’S GOLF 18 HOLE LEAGUE The Park City Women’s Golf Association has rescheduled its 18-hole league spring social for Wednesday, June 5 at 5:30 p.m. The event costs $25, and includes a full meal with beverages and dessert. The event will discuss details of the upcoming season, including its weekly flighted games, and is open to all women. Girls golf team finishes season 13 strokes behind Ridgeline TINY TRI VOLUNTEERS NEEDED BEN RAMSEY Volunteers are needed for the seventh annual Park City Recreation Tiny Tri, a triathlon for children. The event is scheduled for June 8 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the PC MARC. Volunteers are needed on the routes, which are in Park Meadows. The Park Record The Park City High school girls golf team took second in the Class 4A state tournament at East Bay Golf Course in Provo on Thursday. It was their fifth consecutive season finishing runner-up. After playing 18 holes on Wednesday, the Miners ranked second with a score of 342 behind Ridgeline with 336. Th Th e e Individually, Lila Galea’i of Lehi led with a score of 70 on the first day – two under par. Alexis Wilson of Ridgeline was second with an even 72 and Park City senior Grace Donahue was third with a score of 75. Of Park City’s team, senior McKenzie Schow finished 12 over par with an 84. She was followed by sophomore Josie Marshall with an 85, senior Livi Rockwood (98), senior Gabby Rockwood (100) and sophomore Caroline Donahue (109). After two days, Ridgeline had extended its lead to 13 strokes under Park City, with a second-day score of 326, and a total score of 662 for the state title. The top three shooters individually retained their positions, with Galea’i shooting a 68 (138 total), Wilson shooting a 75 (147) and Donahue shooting a 75 (150). Schow tied for ninth in the state alongside Meghan Pierce of Uintah and Rheagen Harfiel of Bear River after finishing the second day with a 79 (163). Marshall finished with an 82 (167) for 13th overall, Gabby Rockwood finished 42nd overall after shooting a 97 (197) and Livi Rockwood finished 43rd with a 101 (199). Caroline Donahue took 57th overall, shooting a 110 (219). Coach George Murphy said the finish was bittersweet. “You want it for them,” Murphy said of the elusive state title. He noted that, for Schow and Grace Donahue, each of their four seasons playing golf at Park City High School have ended in second place at state even as they hoped to get over the hump this year. But he said he was also happy for the team, which had achieved some of its goals this season. The Miners had taken Region 11 by 285 strokes. Grace Donahue, Schow and Marshall had carried the team in the state tournament and held their own against the best in Class 4A.
