The team has been pushing toward that point since last season when, senior Ben Agnew said, the Miners were knocked out of the state playoffs by Snow Canyon, and immediately returned to practice. “We got right off the bus and went right back to the cages after losing that game,” Agnew said. “And we just started working.” mation, ticket prices and track conditions go to TheJeremy.com. Park City High School senior Evan Pointer will be one of several Miners with multiple years of varsity experience who take the field this season. The semi-final game as a sophomore. He was a steady presence on the mound last season and hit in the middle of the Miners’ lineup. Alongside him, junior Ryan Jeffrey will likely be the team’s go-to pitcher, having played last season as the team’s No. 1 — though all of the team’s pitchers will also play other positions, a slight departure from last season, Feasler said. Senior center fielder Max Mobley and senior outfielder and pitcher Evan Pointer will also serve as steadying forces through the season and will be shuffled into the middle of the batting order. Junior Zack Blaszak was the team’s lead-off hitter last season and will likely fill that role this year. Two move-ins are also expected to boost the Miners’ lineup. Austin Davison, who attends Rowland Hall, joins the team as a catcher. The senior lives in Park City, and was able to join the Miners because Rowland Hall didn’t field a baseball team this year. Junior infielder Alex Chachas joins the team after moving from La Costa Canyon High School, north of San Diego, to Park City in early February. Chachas has already made an impression on the coach. “He’ll be a big contributor, I think,” Feasler said. Feasler’s vision for the team can be summed up in one word, Weather Saturday, March 2, 2019 REGIONAL FORECAST FIVE DAY FORECAST FOR PARK CITY ALMANAC Park City statistics for the week ending Feb. 28 SATURDAY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY Cloudy with a rain or snow shower Periods of clouds and sunshine Clouds and breaks of sun Mostly cloudy Cloudy; a bit of morning snow, then rain Winds: WSW 4-8 mph Winds: W 4-8 mph Winds: WNW 4-8 mph Winds: SSW 6-12 mph Winds: S 7-14 mph 37°/26° 37°/19° 36°/21° 42°/32° 44°/30° Temperatures: High for the week ................................ 46° Low for the week ................................... 5° Precipitation: Total for the week ............................. 0.48” ACCUWEATHER UV INDEX TM Ogden 42/29 Elko 40/28 Salt Lake City 44/33 SUN AND MOON Sunrise 6:59 a.m. ......... 6:57 a.m. ......... 6:56 a.m. ......... 6:54 a.m. ......... 6:53 a.m. ......... Then we just have to be able to translate that to our defense and our pitching.” The coach left the goal-setting to his players, who chose to hone their sights on a region championship, with possibly a top-five state finish. “That’s kind of been our goal for as long as Feas has been here,” Agnew said of winning the region. Last season the team took second, falling one game shy of beating Juan Diego to the Region 11 title. Agnew said that loss will serve as motivation for a team that has been gaining steam over the last two years as they start their season on Tuesday at Orem High School at 3 p.m. Last season’s shortcomings already motivated the team to practice at the Basin Rec Fieldhouse through the offseason, where Agnew said the Miners have been diligently working toward opening day. “We worked all summer, fall and now through the winter,” Agnew said. “We are pretty excited to get going on Tuesday to see all that work pay off and hopefully have a successful year.” City Aspen Boulder Butte Colorado Springs Elko Ely Evanston Flagstaff Gallup Grand Canyon Grand Junction Gunnison Idaho Falls Jackson Hole Mesquite Missoula Ogden Page Pocatello Provo Pueblo Reno Rexburg St. George Salt Lake City Spokane Sun Valley Tahoe Twin Falls Yellowstone Saturday Hi Lo W 41 30 sn 26 3 sn 5 -18 c 39 10 sf 40 28 sn 41 27 sn 31 17 sn 42 31 r 53 35 pc 45 32 r 48 35 r 33 23 sn 34 15 c 29 4 c 63 46 r 13 -7 c 42 29 c 56 40 pc 37 20 c 44 34 c 42 11 sf 47 38 r 32 15 c 57 45 r 44 33 r 25 4 pc 32 8 c 40 31 sn 39 21 c 19 -4 sn Sunday Hi Lo W 37 19 c 14 0 c 3 -19 pc 18 4 c 43 24 sn 44 25 sn 28 8 pc 47 30 pc 53 33 pc 50 31 c 48 32 sh 31 16 sn 31 10 pc 25 0 sn 66 47 s 12 -8 pc 42 25 pc 60 41 pc 35 16 pc 45 25 pc 22 5 sn 50 35 c 28 9 pc 61 44 sh 44 27 pc 22 2 s 28 6 s 40 27 sn 38 20 c 16 -13 pc Interstate 80: Watch for slippery roads and lower visibility on Saturday with some rain and snow.
