Show Wed/Thurs/Fri, February 13-15, 2019 C-7 The Park Record KUED is accepting writing and illustrating contest submissions The Deadline is Monday, April 15 Submitted by KUED The KUED Kids Writers and Illustrators Contest returns in 2019 for its 18th year, and is now accepting submissions. The annual contest strives to foster creativity and literacy in young Utah artists and writers. This year, KUED is proud to partner with the Natural History Museum of Utah. The contest is for children in grades K-6. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, the 2019 contest’s theme is “Space.” The contest submission window is open and stories will be accepted now through April 15. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are encouraged to submit original stories, complete with a minimum of five illustrations. Individual children or classes may submit stories. Judging is based on creativity, writing, and illustrations. Word count specifics (based on grade), ideas on creating a good story, and the entry form can be found on KUED’s contest website, kued.org/writers. Winners will enjoy a day with their families at the Natural History Museum of Utah, have their stories published online, and get to participate in a traveling art exhibit hosted by the Utah Division of Arts and Museums! Winners will be announced in May 2019. Park City Film screening will capture ‘Shoplifters’ Park City Film will present Kore-eda Hirokazu’s “Shoplisters” rated R, from Friday, Feb. 15, to Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium.
