The publication contains images of each miner and rescuer featured on the memorial and information on the local artist, Karen Jobe Templeton, who created the memorial. The CEU Prehistoric Museum Gallery will host an open exhibition during January, February, and March of 2009, serving as an opportunity for local amateur and professional artists to contribute examples of their work. This show will include both hanging art pieces of any type and three-dimensional or sculpture pieces. Contributing artists may submit up to three entries for exhibition. All entries must be suitably framed or finished for display (for instance, no unframed poster type art is accepted). Each entry of display-ready art must be accompanied by the artist’s label, preferably made with white paper mounted on black foam core, in a reasonable size, (3 inches high by 4 inches wide) and have the following information: Title of piece. The museum is interested in both community service and promotion of its mission, as well as adherence to applicable laws and rules of the college, and therefore reserves the right to reject any art that the review panel may deem to be offensive, unacceptably unstable or fragile, or unsuitable for display. The museum will provide a very limited number of cube pedestal cases for display of 3D art less than 20 inches in height or width; since they are on a first-come-first-served basis, these cases as well as floor pedestals or open displays are subject to availability.
