Bernard Elder Justin Lee Bernard has been called to serve in the Louisiana, Baton Rouge Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will report to the Missionary Training Center on July 2. Justin will be speaking in the Huntington Fifth Ward at 9 a.m. on June 29. Elder Bernard is the son of Vallyn and Debbie Bernard of Lawrence. He is the grandson of John and Barbara Naylor of Orem, George and Betty Bernard, and Les and Geneva O’Bryant of Ohio. Rodeo Roundup! Kids celebrated Castle Dale’s San Rafael Summerfest with a rodeo all their own on June 21. From a chicken run to horse racing (of the stick horse variety), children showed their cowboy spirit to the delight of the crowd of family and friends. The annual event is organized by the Emery High School Rodeo Team. The rodeo was one of a variety of events organized for Castle Dale’s annual city celebration, which began with brunch in the park and ended with a bang as fireworks lit up the nighttime sky. Emery and Suzanne Jones Emery and Suzanne Jones have returned from their Family and Church History Mission. They will be reporting their mission on June 29, at 12.30 p.m. in the Castle Dale 3rd Ward, with the meeting held in the 8th Ward Chapel. RECOGNITION Year of the Mammoth The College of Eastern Utah recently announced the winners of its Year of the Mammoth Art Contest. There were 45 entries in the contest and there were three categories of winners: kindergarten to 6th grade; 7-12th grades and 18 and over. The winners were categorized as People’s Choice (the public voted in the Art Gallery at the museum) Winners were: Kindergarten to 6th Grade, Otto DeGroff; 7-12 Grade, Maranda Tucker; 18 and over, Lyle Bauer. Judges Choice were: kindergarten to 6th grade: Hunter Stevenson; 7th-12th grade, Maranda Tucker, 18 and over, Lyndsay Reid. The Director’s Choice award went to Keldon Pickering’s entry.
