Is Actually Ineffectual to Reconcile Defeated Clan. A large number supporters and a of few happy Lippman Bransford men met at the Salt Lake theatre last evening in What was billed as an “American party love feast.” What it proved to be was an ineffectual attempt on the part of the Bransford people to reconcile the Lippman bolters to the Bransford ticket. W. J. Barrette was chairman of the meeting, aad the speakers were Mayor J. S. Bransford, City Attorney H. J. Dininny, B. Ss. R corder, and Allen T. Sanford, all strong Bransford men. A. J. Weber, manager of the Lipp_man campaign, was scheduled to speak “at the meeting, but he did not appear. The chairman made an elaborate apolo‘gy for him, saying that a severe illness prevented his attendance. y. Mont (Ferry was to speak, but he was not ere, Mayor Bransford spoke only briefly and thanked the people for the honor of ‘ae renomination. Most the other eakers devoted practically their entire tice to eulogies of Lippman and McanMilian and their followers. Mr. ‘ford compared the two defeated candi- dates to Henry Clay and James G. ‘Blaine. He said the American party was better for the contest, and that the defeated candidates would be among the strongest supporters of the ticket ROB POOR WOMAN’S SON. Thieves Steal Bundle of Clothes Was Delivering. Lad With tears streaming down his white, pinched face, Arthur Miller, little son of Mrs. W. H, Miller, a widow, came into the police station last night and sobbed out a story of how a basket of clothes which he was delivering for his mother, had been stolen im The little fellow was inconsolable, deelaring that his poor mother would bea unable to pay for the clothes and would lose the patronage of the customer, The boy had stopped a moment to play with his companions, and upon turnme again to his pusheart, found that the clothes had been stolen. The police took a deecription of the clothes LIBERAL INCOME If you have money which is lying Idle for lack of a suitable investment, we invite you to avail yourself of the advantages afforded by our Mortgage Certificates. The gallery was packed with Lippman supporters, and the mention of Lippman’s name brought forth the greatest amount of applause. “rhe Lippman supporters, however, were convinced that they were defeared, and it was only those who had gone too far to Gad who remained with Lippman to en. The Bransford people had hoped to be able to improve the ticket by leaving off H. G, Dininny and Rudolph Alff. In order to carry the primaries, however, it was necessary for the Bransford people to combine with the undestrables and in payment for this aid reluctantly Placed them on the ticket. For city attorney, Dininny received 276 votes; George a. Godwin, George Jay Gibson, 9015 ao lared the nominee. It is understood hat in order to secure the votes of the Branstonl delegates it was necessary for the city attorney to promise to cease immediately his Papeeen to the Bransord administration Two ballots were necessary to nominate Rudolpd Alf€ for auditor His name Was considered a dead weight on the ticket, and he appeared at first to have no chance a renomination. However, his opponents dey eloped little strength and wire unable find a strong man within the party to oppose him. the first ballot Alff received 226% votes, J. Shand Smith 18446 and John D, Hagman 124 On poe second ballot Alff received 362 vote B. S. Rives, the Hneataen candidate for recorder, won out after a pretty contest with i MeLaughlin tip ee Pike. Two ballots were taken without a choice. After the Second ballot McLaughlin withdrew, expecting his supporters to go to Pike, They went to Rives, however, and he was made the nominee, For clty treasurer Gideon Snyder renominated without opposition —.—_ rticl of value, nade age wh has 20 Se defunct Nevada eon the goods come out of the other charges come bushe o two. bush and un- wormy | used to destroy the &.
