Baseball: From DONS • A14 coming out of the Knights' sails. The atmosphere in the ballpark told the story that this talented team was not going to be denied their championship trophy. It had to be discouraging for Lone Peak to get to the game and have to face talented senior Chase Castleberry. Castleberry started the game and held Lone Peak to four runs over four-plus innings. Castleberry earned the win, because four runs were just not going to do it for Lone Peak. The Dons scored one in the first, and six in the second to gain control of the game. The first-inning run came when Trevor Randolph led the inning off with a single. Randolph scored on an RBI sac. fly from Brock Duke. The Don's big inning came in the second, which began with leadoff triple from Braden Warren. Warren scored when the next hitter, Adam Duke, hit a single to left field. Nate Binks then walked to put two runners on. Adam scored on an RBI double to the gap hit by Hadley Thorpe. Brett Grover then hit a double to score Binks and Thorpe. Grover scored on a sacrifice by Taggart Lunceford. The final run came when Trevor Randolph walked. Randolph scored on a sac. fly from Greg Money. Two more runs came in the third inning. Adam Duke reached on a single, and Brett Grover reached on an error. Both scored on a two-RBI triple by Trevor Randolph. The final three runs of the year were scored in the sixth inning. Taggart Lunceford walked and gave way to speed-up runner Travis Still. A double by Braden Warren scored Still. Adam Duke then ripped a triple to score Warren and then scored on a wild pitch to give the Dons their 12 runs. The final Lone Peak threat came in the sixth when they had two run- . ners on with no outs. Adam Duke came in to pitch and used a 95 mph fastball to . strike out the side. Duke pitched the final two innings, which ended when he got a Lone Peak hitter to ground out to his older brother and begin the celebration that lasted into the night for the Dons. their first and last lead of the game. In the top of the sixth, Spanish was unable to earn any runs with bases loaded. In the bottom of the sixth, Viewmont was able to make up one of the runs and tie the game. Pitcher Dezlee Roberts saved possibly two more runs, with runners on third and second, by striking out two batters.. In the seventh inning. Viking ace Shelby Tyteca shut down the Don batters. The Vikings then got their two first batters on with singles. With the game hanging by a thread, Spanish Fork Coach Don Andrews decided to intentionally walk Viewmont's number-four hitter. But the next batter smashed a hit past Spanish's third baseman to win the game for the Vikings. Pitcher Dezlee Roberts allowed seven hits, and struck out four, and Tyteca allowed seven hits and struck out four. Spanish Fork's season was ended, with a respectable third place finish in state and first in region. Their six seniors, Kylee Brinkerhoff, Tina Ferguson, Katelyn Elliott, Cami Robinson, Kylee Bufton and Lea Adamson had a great year. They have been contributing to the Spanish Fork Don's Varsity team since they were freshman. They will be missed, and will be difficult to replace. Lady Dons: From SOFTBALL • A13 ond.
