Show -NEWS- Spanish Fork Covering what matters most WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2008 • B3 Skyhawks ready for first hoops season Shaun Peterson STAFF WRITER Are you ready for some basketball? The Salem Hills Skyhawks are. With their first season just around the corner the Skyhawks are looking to be competitive in both preseason and region play. "Our team has all the necessary tools, talent and ability to be successful," said Coach Jimmy DeGraffenried. Leading the Skyhawks are team captains Riley Hanks and Morgan Meservy who bring both leadership and experience with them. One of the challenges that the Skyhawks will face is team chemistry; an obstacle that comes with building any new team. "Players have set individual goals as well as team goals. We have a tough pre-season and we're just going to take it one game at a time." Coach DeGraffenried said. The Skyhawks Varsity team for 2008 will consist of eight seniors: Riley Hanks, Morgan Meservy, Seth Muhelstien, Gus Dewey, Dustin Belliston, Phillip Palmer, Spencer Turnbow and Kyle Shuler. Although they are a new team, most of the players have years of high school game experience on their side. Pre-season play will be challenging for the Skyhawks but they seem ready, willing and able to meet it.
