Both teams took home first place, making a clean sweep for the Skyhawks in their first year of competition. Cosette Stone, above, has been a consistent leader for the Lady Skyhawks throughout the season. SFHS Golf The SFHS gym was electric Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008. The Dons had waited three weeks for a re-match with Lehi. The SF girls simply dominated the court, defeating Lehi 3-1. The Lady Dons started fast, pounding the ball with 12 kills, led by Kylie Schofiled with eight. SF played great defense with six digs, and showed excellent chemistry, not allowing Lehi any momentum, and then took the lirst game 25-20. SF turned up the heat in game two. The Pioneers were reeling. The Dons controlled the net with 10 kills, AIR TIME: Erin Redd and Nicole Schofield go airborne for a block. SF dominated at the net. See LADY DONS • B16 SHHS Soccer STATE SOCCER: The Salem Hills Lady Skyhawks traveled to Waterford for the first round of the 3A state soccer playoffs. The favored Ravens took an early lead, which they continued to build throughout the game, which ended in a 1-7 loss for Salem. Storie Brockbank scored Salem's only goal to avoid a shutout. Senior leaders Storie Brockbank and Sarah Clark played tremendous games to finish their high school career. Right, Goalkeeper Sam Bigler goes in for the stop against a Waterford forward. Chad Vest / Spanish Fork News STATE GOLF: The SFHS Dons golf team recently competed at Soldier Hollow in the 5A State Golf Tournament. Spanish Fork took 10th in overall competition, and Garrett Moss tied for seventh in individual competition. SAM'S PREP OF THE WEEK Jordunn Mattinson •Junior • Football •Tight End/Wide Receiver Jordunn Mattinson is the son of Stocey Nelson and Scott Mattinson. The big receiver had a great game against Lehi on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Mattinson hauled in two touchdowns against the Pioneers in the second quarter, giving the Dons a 14-point lead they would not relinquish. "It was a good game/' said Mattinson.
