Spanish appeared to dominate their opponent from the get-go with a solid defensive stand to begin the game, but as the red and gray approached the red zone on its first offensive series, Brighton caught a break from a Don miscue. From there, both teams found success on big plays — both run and pass — to tie the game at 14 by intermission. In the second half, Spanish went up by the score of 21-14, but had to rely on their defense to come RETUjpl h Fork's shrffcr ck and Trevor Ra up big and they did just that. Their tenacious effort proved to be sound at stopping the run and defending the pass, which allowed them to pitch a second half shutout. Senior signal-caller, Breck Lewis, was responsible for four scores of the night. He tossed for two and ran for as many in an impressive road win, spoiling Brighton's Homecoming by the score of 28-14. A stingy Don defense forced a threeand-out on the Bengals' first possession, which was led by a seven-yard sack by senior LB Nate Binks. Spanish then moved across midfield before turning the ball over as they approached the red zone. Brighton capitalized after methodically moving the ball across midfield on some option run plays that set up a 25-yard TD See DONS • BIO Kate Jarman / Spanish Fork News HOMECOMING: Salem's Payton Jermaine receives a kick during the Skyhawks' inaugural homecoming game.
