Show -N E W S- Spanish Fork Brockbank Covering what matters most Riverview WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2008 • B7 Courtesy photos i • Courtesy photo PRINCIPAL GETS CREAMED: Many students dream of throwing a pie in their principal's face. For six lucky students at Riverview Elementary it became a reality on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at a school-wide assembly. As a reward for meeting the food drive goal of 2,500 canned goods in December, 2007. Mrs. Jarvis offered up her face. One student from each grade level was selected for the honor. The assembly was filled with laughter, cheers, and a few tears from Mrs. Jarvis as she slipped her trash bag over her head. Mrs. Jarvis was a great sport and instantly became a celebrity with many students seeking her autograph. Pictured are student Tyler Christensen creaming Principal Jarvis as teacher Mrs. Hales looks on. LOVE OF READING: Brockbank Elementary has had some exciting visitors during the months of November, December and January. Each month to celebrate reading a special assembly is held and an important parent from our school describes his/her job and how important reading is to them. For November Summer Knotts, a police officer from SpringvHIe, and mother of Strider, Gavin, and Drake Knotts put on the assembly. For December Rod Scheetz, a paleontologist at BYU, and father of Austin and Alyx Scheetz celebrated with us. For January Jesus Quispe, who recently become a U.S. citizen, and husband of Mrs. Quispe(teacher)and stepfather of Anna Mathison told the students how important reading and learning is to him. Each month the Brockbank students receive a Reading Award Wristband after the assembly to remind them that reading is important all year long. Pictured, above, with Summer Knotts is Mrs. Peterson's 2nd grade class.
