What a better way to honor the innocent Americans that lost their lives that fateful day, ten years ago, than to pause for a moment of silence to remember their lives. However, an even better way to honor them, are the efforts being made by a new generation of great Americans to live good productive lives. Today, our Boy Scouts can become the men of a greater America as they remember and live the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. Possibly, no other commitment can guarantee future success in their lives more than living by these important articles. In the Court of Honor held by Unit 681, sponsored by the LDS Panguitch 3rd Ward, many scouts were recognized for the progress made in their lives. Sixty-five merit badges were earned and awarded. Sixteen rank advancements were awarded, including 8 Star and 2 Life Ranks. Those earning Star were: Trenton Stowe, Joseph Vasquez, Tyrel Henrie, Tyler Roundy, Trey Barney, Ethen Armstrong, Hunter Hughes, and Jacob Fawson. Life Ranks were awarded to Drew Fischer and Uriel Zubia. In addition, Eagle Scouts Tyce Barney and Troy Huntington earned Bronze Palms (5 additional merit badges after Eagle). Two Gold Palms were earned and awarded to Sam Vasquez and Chance Campbell (ten merit badges after Eagle. Bishop Troy Henrie and Scouting Coordinator Shawn Parkin have staffed the scout program in their ward with some of the best men possible. Scott Campbell is scoutmaster. He is assisted by Royce Pollock, Raymond Roundy and Justin Woolsey. Eric Fawson is the Varsity Scout Coach. His assistant is Brian Bremner. Alberto Vasquez is the Venturer Crew Leader. Of course, each scout's mom and dad is a very integral part of their son's success. The goal, by the end of 2012, is an additional thirteen scouts to attain the Eagle Rank. As they live to be Eagle Scouts, Panguitch, and yes, America, will be assured of a better future. |
