The Megan Cottam Violin Studio hosted the event at Bryce Valley High School. Rebecca Wagstaff, a parent, spent countless hours organizing the many phases of putting the camp together. Seven master musicians came to teach, enhance, and refine various instrumental and musical skills for the students. They were Denise Willey and her three daughters, Kristina, Catherine, and Rebekah teaching orchestra, viola, cello, violin, and master classes. Goran Berg and Christina Berg came from their studio in California. Mr. Berg taught fiddle as well as master classes. His wife taught guitar and musical movement. David Brown taught Dalcroze Eurythmics. These instructions came with knowledge, passion for music, energy, and patience. We are so grateful for all they have done for the music students. Every music student received daily one-on-one instruction, repertoire instruction, fiddling, and Dalcroze instruction. In addition, the Dalcroze classes and an extra Polynesian Dance class were offered to anyone. The Friday night concert illustrated the overwhelming success of the Music Camp. Both orchestras, the fiddle group, and the guitar class had only been introduced to their performance pieces Monday morning, but were able to perform them beautifully Friday night. The students also performed a variety of repertoire pieces from their classical music instruction. In addition, the Willey family performed solos, a duet, and a chamber piece for the students and audience. All those who benefitted from BCMC are grateful to the following individuals and organizations for their generous support: Wes & Ellen Clarke, the Garfield County Commission, David Brown, Pioneer Academy, Garfield Co. School District & BVHS, Aaron & Julie Bybee, Bryce Pioneer Village, The Pizza Place, Ebenezer's Barn & Grill, Bryce Canyon Pines, the Bryce Natural History Museum, the Gem Theater, and Panguitch Drug. In addition, many parents volunteered time and energy before the camp to help it come about. They also volunteered during the camp doing a variety of tasks. Also, Cheri Feltner, Collette Matthews, and LaNae Cloud accompanied for several classes every day helping the students prepare for the concert. Watch for advertisements next spring so you can register for the next Bryce Canyon Music Camp. It is BARNETT scheduled for June 11 to 15, 2012. °10110Dowto HALE ART GALLERY Come in and see Lynn Griffin's latest work, including The two Hole-in-the-Rock paintings, "Undaunted" and "The Last Wagon".
