Show the lAuGhiNg pOiNtr! Company Examination There once was a tale of two leaders about Ms. Can Do and Ms. Black Widow. Both educators, but vastly different in teaching style as night is to day. Actually, after reading about them you might come to the conclusion that there is only one real and true leader and perhaps the other, a rather sad and lonely classroom "manager." When Ms. Can Do works with a student in class and say a student doesn't understand a concept she might say something like, "I was there once, too. That word tripped me up only until a few years ago. But this is how one of my teachers helped me understand it. Maybe it can help us also." Ms. Back Widow, on the other hand, in the same scenario, would say, unless it were one of her favorite's, "So, you're telling me THIS is your answer?!" with sarcasm in her voice in front of a room full of students. You'd think that was bad enough, but Black Widow "Black Widow" class even continues, "This is not what though we're yearning to I asked of you...you just sit back in a :Can Do" one; copied and pasted this in- especially when Ms. Can formation from the book," Do "gets" you (i.e., underagain, in front of a room stands you) and Ms. Black full of students. Salesman Visit It Makes Sense...By Veda Hale The only suggestion coming my way this week came from my own aching joints-that old bug-a-boo arthritis. So I headed to the internet for suggestions. "I already do all that." I moaned. Well, maybe I do....sometimes. Why is it so hard to keep something good going? Bacon, smookhouse ribs, ice cream, all the yumyum stuff just has a way of winning. Well, here it is again....the definition of what is ailing me and the good way to eat: "Inflammation is a set of symptoms that includes pain, swelling, heat and redness of an affected organ or tissue. It's the way the body's immune system responds to attack, infection or injury. The immune system response to an unsatisfactory diet can lead to chronic inflammation of various body systems, leading to conditions such as arthritis and various autoimmune diseases like lupus. Recently there has been an increased focus on diets and lifestyle plans that seek to end the cycle of inflammation and its deleterious consequences." The good fats? Omega-3 Fatty Acids, not Omega-6 ones. That is rather hard to do. At least the meat part. The nuts I can take and do, especially walnuts, which look like the brain, and every time I eat them, I think I'm getting smarter. Besides they are easy to come by. If we were fishermen here in Panguitch, I would think our cold-water trout would be good, as the research says "natural coldwater fish like like salmon, cod fish, sardines..." and such. But we don't know how to fish. I guess I'll up my supplements. The other diet suggestion....you guessed it....fresh vegetables and fruits, especially berries and it seems anything highly colored, like blueberries and red peppers and broccoli. Then there is the old suggestions to use turmeric and ginger. I have been using turmeric, maybe not enough. Ginger? Maybe I ought to look into ginger tea. It is so hard to change old habits. Just making your mind think of making ginger tea when it was not something you grew up with, takes some doing. Then you could turn to the over-the counter medicines and then to your doctor for whatever drugs might help. Personally, I'm going to push that act off as long as I can. It is nice to know they are there though, like a crutch standing in the corner. But I do believe anything natural or health building is what makes sense. is also something we know would be suggested. But just easy stuff, like walking or swimming, not something that puts stress on the joints, as in feet hitting the pavement hard when running. One would think that just holding as still as possible, which is what I'm inclined to do, would be the best, but it isn't so. Make yourself move around. Sympathy and humor. That can certainly help. Why, I just don't know. "Misery likes company" is probably the answer. Whatever, remember that no one likes to get caught by someone who has to dump their gripes on them. On the other end, if we are inclined to want to be kind and helpful, perhaps just listening could be your good deed for the day. It makes sense. We all need each other. If you've had any success by using natural remedies, please share.
