Ileta Dix reported that there are a ton of clothes at the Social Hall. There are coats, shirts and even shoes; so if your young one is freezing because he can't find his coat, it is probably at the Social Hall. Helen Slack reported that the Wednesday night quilters are working on a quilt that will be raffled off during the Quilt show. This is a fun nights activity, come on down and see if you would like to take part. They quilt at the senior center. A large number of people from town went down to the St. George Temple to accompany their friend Claudia Crump, who was taking out her Endowments. Claudia has also been made a Councilor in the Relief Society at the Extended Care unit at the Hospital. She is taking Lorena Decker's place. Lorena's husband Joe, who has been the head of the food services at Brian Head Ski Resort for years, has accepted a similar position down in Zions Park. This job however is year around and has a four day work week. Lorena owns the PAWSZ grooming and animal boarding business out on the river lane. If you are going out of town for a day or longer Lorena's place is a safe haven for your pets. The power keeps going out today so I had better send this off, plenty of stuff going on, in a very short time. Look for posters at the Post Office Bulletin boards in your area or other public places where they might be displayed. The Henrieville Young Women held their "New Beginnings" on last Tuesday and welcomed Keni Floyd and Shelby Mathews into Young Women. Marilyn Marshall and Gayle Moore were recipients of an EMED Grant that allowed them to go to UCET training in Sandy Utah. They thought it was really good and enjoyed the classes. UCET stands for Utah Coalition Education of Technology. In Cannonville Pauline Hansen, Trista Rich, and Paula Henrie were all called to be Primary workers. Stacie Mathews was released as a Primary worker because she is now in the Young Women's Presidency. Curtis Hansen and Allen Larson were put into the Sunday School Presidency with John Morreale who was already installed as the President. Congratulations to Katrina Kimble who was baptized this week. Keela Mangum was released as the Activity Days Leader for the 8-9 year olds and Angie Steele was called to take that position. An email tells us that J. J. Dunham is doing well in Bolivia. He is working very hard and loves it there. They are being transferred this week so his address will change. J. J. said he feels like the Jolly Green Giant over there because the people of Bolivia are very small but very good people. Keep up the good work J. J. We all miss you. We have a large number of people in the hospital at this time. Floyd Richards in in the Dixie Regional Medical Center. Louise England is in the Garfield Memorial Hospital. Still in the hospital in Panguitch is Eva Dean Francisco, Afton Pollock, and Ora Brinkerhoff. We wish all these folks the best and will keep them in our prayers and thoughts. Hope all is well in your corner of the world. Please call or email your news to me. Have a great week. VS BRYCE VALLEY SCHOOLS NEWS.. .by Vicki D. Syrett The Pro-Start class from BVHS is going to Salt Lake to compete sometime this week. Teresa Thompson is the teacher and she is showing the students how to cook all different kinds of food. A very interesting class. We wish them luck in Salt Lake. The Upward Bound Students went swimming last Friday with Nathan Platt the advisor. They had a great time. Boy's Basketball - boys we want to thank you for a very good season of basketball. The Coaches- Eric Jessen and Gary Syrett would like to thank the community for all their support and want them to know they are greatly appreciated. Also the Booster Club that helps make a good season with their support and help. Again thanks to the bus drivers, parents, players, and cheerleaders. You are all great and we are proud of you and appreciate your efforts. 7th place is good. Keep smiling and work towards next year. Also last week I mistakenly put Jake Pearson and Kace Roundy on the Academic team and it was instead the Region 20 All Star Team. The Elementary at BV had their third term reward activities on Friday. They used the Dr. Seuss theme with lots of fun activities taking place. Kim Stewart was the organizer this year and it was a really fun day.
