Show Page 2 ztvn 201 The Garfield Cou'n'ty Insider ENTER AINME PIONEER HISTORY COMES ALIVE! Mike King, Utah author, will be at Tropic's Heritage Center on July 24 to talk about Hole-in-the-Rock history and his great-great-grandmother, Jane McKechnie Walton. The Waltons were members of the original party that came through Hole-in-the-Rock to settle Bluff and Monticello. Jane Walton was shot and killed in 1891 during a celebration of Pioneer Day. Mike King researched Jane's life and death, and determined without question who Jane's killer actually was. His book is entitled, "Jane...A Woman's Determination and the Wild-West Frontier". Not only is this a spell-binding true story, how Mike came to research and write it is equally interesting. Mike King has had a distinguished law enforcement career, and currently consults with major law enforcement agencies worldwide. His presentation and book-signing will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24 at The Heritage Center, 21 North Main Street, Tropic. Tickets are $10 (fund-raiser for the sidewalk), and books are $15. Tickets and books available at The Gallery at Clarke's, Clarke's Country Market, and from Annette Chynoweth. For more information, call Irene Brockdorff at 616-1069. Sponsored by The Gallery at Clarke's. TIHS IS THE PLACE July 24th Celebration Tropic Park Parade line up at the elementary school at 9:30 a.m. 10:00 Parade 10:30 Program Races following the program!!
