This year, Panguitch had 3 Black Belt candidates. Sam Vasquez and Darri Frandsen tested and were awarded their 1st degree black belts after 5 years of training. Alberto Vasquez (Manager of Garfield County Hospital) received his 6th degree black belt after 28 years of training. This promotion had 93 candidates testing for 1st to 6th degree black belts. Along with the test, the candidates were required to compete in the tournament along with another 300 plus competitors. Panguitch had 11 students that entered the tournament. Panguitch was represented well with 9-1st place medals, 3-2nd place medals and 8-3rd place medals. The competitors were Sam Vasquez, Kylee Osborn, Jennifer Bridges, Rebecca Holbrook, Darri Frandsen, Alberto Vasquez Chris Parkin, Joe Vasquez, Jade Vasquez, Troy Evans and Chris Holbrook. Each of the competitors medaled at least once. The Panguitch school students competed well against the larger Wasatch Schools. BYU Invitational, 1A & 2A Utah schools and some from other states. This is a new school record, the old record was held by Amanda Talbot. Region 20 is Friday May 7th @ 10:00 in Wayne. Meet in SUU Trac Norris set 3 school records 1st 1500 m 3:47.33 1st 800 M 1:49.31 2nd 4x400 M relay (Trac's split was 48). Trac is the #1 ranked freshman in the NCAA for the steeple chase.
