We have combined this event with the Resettlement Birthday Party. It should be a fun evening and we are encouraging everyone to attend. The cost of the dinner is a donation to the statue and any donation is greatly appreciated. We would love to have everyone attend. We would like you to call Donna at 676-2431 to RSVP. We are having roast, dutch oven potatoes, salad, rolls, and of course birthday cake. Our statue is in the process of being completed. It is being scuplted by Stan Johnson of Parowan. It will be lifesize and in bronze. It is a statue of a man walking on a quilt and throwing another one down, just as the "quiltwalkers" did. It is going to be placed next to Zions Bank on the west side of the parking lot. The statue itself is costing $60,000 and the Quilt Walk over the last several years has saved about $45,000. We have received other donations bringing it up to almost $50,000. We have received word that we will be receivng a grant for $25,000 but we are not sure when that money will arrive. We need to put a base on the statue when it arrives and put lighting and sprinkler system in also. We have alot of things in place to make this really nice, and we would appreciate the community support to help get it finished. We will have pictures of the statue at the dinner on March 20th so you can see what is being done. We would really love to have everyone attend and be part of this wonderful event. INDEPENDENT FREE PAPERS OF AMERICA ac_ The citizens of the Bryce Area Community are still feeling the excitement of Saturday night when the Bryce Valley Team fought their way to victory. The team played with team spirit and cooperation. They were good sports and found the basket enough times to bring the win home to their own school. Way to go Bryce Valley Mustangs. Whooppee!! Going in as somewhat of an underdog the team played with heart and made believers out of the hundreds of people who filled the Sevier Center. The excitement level was high and by half way through the fourth quarter you knew the victory was theirs for the taking. When the final buzzer sounded the entire studentbody of BVHS streamed down on the floor to congratulate and revel in the wonderful feeling of the win. It is a feeling that will be felt for many years to come by all who were there and those who watched it on the Internet. After the game and on their way home the team had an escort of many cars forming a parade to get them home safely. All along the way they picked up other cars who joined the line and with headlights flashing and horns honking the procession drove the almost two hour drive in a state of euphoria. Oh the excitement that rode with everyone in the bus and all the cars that followed was very high. As they passed through the town of Panguitch they were treated to the sight of many people cheering them on as they drove through. As they neared the top of Red Canyon there were fire engines, police cars, and ambulances in wait to join the procession. The sound carried for miles. They drove through Bryce Canyon City, Henrieville, Cannonville, and finally came back to Tropic for a big bonfire. The sirens and horns sounded throughout the drive. This line was at least one and a half miles long. The players on the team are: Cam Roundy, Kace Roundy, Always render more and better service than is expected of you, no matter what your task may be.
