State Bank IOF SOUTHERN UTAH www.jbsu.coni Experience the Difference In Hometown Banking UPCOMING ONLINE BUSINESS TRAINING ANNOUNCED ." BizSMART®, a'six-week entrepreneurial training and business plan development program, will be offered online beginning on March 17, 2007. The course, developed by business counselors and entrepreneurs throughout Utah, is offered through a partnership between Dixie Business Alliance at Dixie State College and Utah Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) throughout the state. BizSMART®, which is sponsored by Zions Bank and strongly supported by the SBDC at Snow College, is designed to assist both experienced business owners as well as those simply contemplating starting a business venture. The registration fee is $249. Those who successfully complete the program may receive a $150 course fee rebate from Zions Bank reducing total out-of-pocket expense to $99. Depending on the county where the business is located, additional cash incentives may be available. BizSMART® is a six-week training program which allows participants to focus on one or both of two objectives: 1) Development of a business plan, or 2) Engaging in learning activity assignments to sharpen entrepreneurial skills. Typically, the challenge of traditional distance learning programs in which the learners are not face-to-face with the instructor, is the lack of personal interaction and responsiveness to individualized needs. The BizSMART® model addresses this challenge by utilizing SBDC counselors throughbut the state, who have been trained to serve as local coaches for BizSMART® participants. These coaches provide critical support through direct contact with participants as they proceed through the online program. The program will work with either a high speed or dial-up internet connection. "BizSMART® is a super opportunity for those with flexibility and determination-two great entrepreneurial qualities," said Jill Elliss, Director of Dixie Business Alliance and BizSMART® program administrator. Alan Christensen, who has counseled hundreds of small business owners through the SBDC at Snow College, will be the instructorforthe upcoming round of BizSMART®. Christensen, an entrepreneur himself, holds a number of certifications for entrepreneurial training facilitation, graduated from Utah Valley State College in Business Administration and earned a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from Utah State University. The registration deadline is March 9, 2007 and class begins the following week.
