When the pain became very bad he made a trip to the hospital even after an earlier doctor's visit told him he was okay. Have a speedy recovery Shiloh. Shiloh is the son of Rod and Kathern Syrett of Bryce. He is also the grandson of Mary Etta Chynoweth of Tropic and Jean Syrett of Cedar. His wife, Cailee is the daughter of Jeff and Kim Johnson of Henrieville and granddaughter of Iris Bushnell. Rumor has it that Lance Foster is engaged. Hope we find our more details laters. Congratulations to Ken Hall who has become and Elder in the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Gary and Sandy Johnson traveled up north to attend their annual family reunion, the "German Dinner" they all enjoy. It was held in Draper Utah this year. There were about 150 people in attendance. Everyone enjoyed the dinner and the program. Later, Gary and Sandy spent the night with Hunter and Rachael Sheedy at their home in Salt Lake. Rachael is the daughter of Gary and Sandy. Then on Sunday the families attended the homecoming of Matt Nott, Sandy's nephew, who is the son of Kevin and Gretchen Nott. It was in Lehi at the Lehi Ward. Matt served in the Mexican Mission. A bunch of us traveled to Escalante to attend a meeting for Family History Leaders and Consultants. It was a beautiful night for the drive and the meeting was short. That meant we traveled over and back in daylight. Thank goodness. Those darn deer on the road make me nervous. News is short this week. Call and share with others the events happening in your area. We know the Carlon and Heather Johnson have a new baby but have been unable to find out all the details. Haven't heard from Carla Hayden for the High School. Hope to have more next week. Have a great week and I will be waiting to hearfromyou. tHe lAuGhiNg COMPUTER HELP Last week my wife and I purchased a new computer. We ran .into some difficulties while setting it up so we decided to call the [customer support phone number we found in the manual. I picked up the phone and called the number. A man answered the phone and I explained the problem to him. He began rattling off computer jargon. This confused us even more. "Sir," I said politely, "Can you explain what I should do as if I were a small child?" "Okay," the computer support guy said, "Son, could you please put your mommy on the phone?" FRIENDLY SKIES An award should go to the United Airlines gate agent in Denver for being smart and funny, and making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo. During the final days at Denver's old Stapleton airport, a crowded United flight was canceled. A single agent was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS." The agent replied, "I'm sorry sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these folks first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out." The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "Do you have any idea who I am?" Without hesitating, the gate agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone. "May I have your attention please?" she began, her voice bellowing throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at the gate WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to the gate." With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United agent, gritted his teeth and swore, "(Expletive) you." Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to stand in line for that, too." The man retreated as the people in the terminal applauded loudly. Although the flight was canceled and people were late, they were no longer angry at United. |
