By Veda Hale EXERCISE: Some of us hate it. We all know it makes sense to do it—better physical and mental health—but the just getting-at-it thing Well, I had a hint come to me that I at first laughed at. Person said she had figured out a way to make herself getat-it. She counted out 50 chocolate chips, carried them to her 50 foot deck and went about walking back and forth. One round trip was 100 feet and 50 of those were close to a mile, which she felt would be pretty good for her. Each round trip she would get to eat one chocolate chip. This way she could also keep track of how far she had walked. It was something like the carrot hung before the donkey. That makes sense. But then I almost spoiled it for her by pointing out that 30 chocolate chips amounted to 70 calories and that sure cut into the caloriesburning part of her exercise. She was fast on the come-back, however, pointing out how I had said chocolate had a lot of good "stuff in it and the very moving around part would get the lympt moving in her body, which was perhaps the important part of exercise. She was right. "A spoonful of sugar" sure does make the medicine go down. And excerise can be looked at as "medicine", at least by people like me. We each have to use our own good sense to figure out how to work in the exercise part of being smart. I have taken my friend's suggestion, used uncooked beans as simply counters, (so I can day-dream or whatever as I walk.) Of course, I don't eat dry-bean counters. To help the time go faster, Wild Spanish Descendants sometimes I use, as my carrot, my IPod The Sulphur Herd to listen to a good book, and sometimes, Wild Horse Adoption when I feel less inclined to exercise, I admit I have even used my friend's 50 chocolate-chip idea. For resistance excerise, I use a elastic stretch-thing-amajig as I walk. Hummmrn. Beans don't cost too much and the stretch-thing-ama-jig I got at my favorate trift store was just a dollar. Wish I could get rid of those two pieces of expensive excercise equipment sitting in my basement. Sometimes using good sense to save cents conies too September 22-23,2006 late. But as long as I exercise perhaps Washington County Fairground the long way around it still worth it. I Hurricane, Utah offer the bean-counters (or chocolate80 head Sulphur horses chip counters) as the best tip for this Weanlings to 5 years old week.
