Meeting dates, times and locations are as follows: Southern Region Sept. 12, 7 p.m. Kanab High School 59 E. Red Shadow Lane, Kanab. The fee changes the DWR is recommending would be phased in beginning July 1,2007. "Those who pay a $5 fee to apply in the big game draw each year, but then do not buy any other licenses or permits, would be the ones most affected by the changes," says Jim Karpowitz, director of the DWR. "Those who already buy Utah hunting and fishing licenses would not be affected as much. In fact, in some cases, they may actually pay less." The DWR is recommending that the price of the following be reduced: Resident combination license Current New (allows the holder to hunt and fish) $34 $30 Resident deer permit $40 $35 Resident elk permit (anybull/spike/anterless) $65 $45 Resident turkey permit $40 $35 The DWR is also recommending that the price of the following be increased: Fee increases Current New Resident small game (renamed a hunting license) $17 $26 Nonresident small game (renamed a hunting license) $45 $65 Drawing application fee $5 $ 10 In addition to the fee changes, the DWR is recommending a major change in how people apply in Utah's hunting draws: (1) Before applying for or buying any hunting permit, all hunters, including big game hunters, would be required to buy a hunting license (this license is currently called a small game license). In addition to allowing the holder to apply for or buy a permit, a hunting license would allow the holder to hunt small game.(2) A hunting license would cost $26. Instead of buying a hunting license, hunters could choose to buy a $30 combination license that would also allow them to fish. (3) The fee to apply in Utah's hunting draws, including the big game draw, would be increased to $10. The application fee is currently $5. In addition to the big game changes, the DWR is proposing the following: (4)Those who don't have a hunting or fishing license would be required to pay a fee to visit the state's wildlife and waterfowl management areas (WMAs). A Watchable Wildlife pass would be available for $10 and would allow the purchaser access to the state's WMAs for 365 days from the day the pass was purchased. The pass would also provide the holder access to all of the Watchable Wildlife events and festivals in Utah for which a fee is charged to attend. (5) Twelve- and 13-year-old anglers would be required to buy a $5 fishing license. "For every license sold to these young anglers, the division would collect $12 in federal aid. That money would then be invested in fish hatcheries and other programs that would make fishing better in the state," Karpowitz said. • AA Mtg, New Awareness Page 2 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER THE 1-800-834-0043 www.brycecanyonresort.com ETY WORKSHOPS t'CESSION BOOTHS 2OO6 ?E ENTERTAINMENT GAMES FOR KIDS HORSEBACK RIDES r HELICOPTER FLIGHTS' MUD BOG CONTESTS BUND MAN'S R'ODEO DIRT TRACK RACES ATVTUG-6-WAR ATVGEO CACHE AND MORE!' rti BRYCE CANYON! SEPTEMBER 29 - OCTOBER 1 , 2006 ... B Y PAT D I X BOBCATS KEEP STREAK ALIVE Wednesday September 6th and Friday September 8th, the Panguitch Bobcats baseball team managed to keep their won lost record unblemished with wins over two very improved opponents, in the Escalante Moquis and the Bryce Valley Mustangs. Cameron Leach went the distance on the mound against the Moquis in the 5 inning game, allowing 2hits in the 10 to 0 shutout, while fanning 8. Compared to the 20 to 3 blowout earlier this season this game proved that the Moquis have indeed gotten better. Tyler Pollock continued his home run binge with his third of the year, going 3 for 3 withe the stick.Cleanup hitter Brady Barney also had a perfect day at the plate with 2 singles and a double. Friday The Bryce Valley Mustangs came to town and played an entirely different game than the 17 to 2 loss suffered earlier at the hands of the Cats. Cameron Leach pitched the first 4 innings fanning 9, allowing 1 hit and no runs, to leave with an 8 to 0 lead. Brady Barney came on in relief and hurled the final 3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 4. With the exception of 3 innings, Mustangs pitcher Curtis Mortensen kept the Bobcats off the board with some clutch pitching, but was the victim of 4 runs scored off of miscues. Panguitch travels to Richfield for a non league game with Wasatch Academy Mon. 1 lth and To Valley Wednesday the 13th and Wednesday the 20th at Green River. The Bobcats next home game will against Green River September 28th, the final league game of the season, MOQUIS TAKE PANGUITCH JV FALL CLASSIC Saturday September 9th the Bobcats hosted the Panguicth JV Fall Classic and the Escalante Moquis JVs proved that they came to play as they walked off with the crown undefeated.
