Show APRIL 27,2006 Page 4 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER - BRYCE VALLEY AREA NEWS MISC. •••T-aV^"it' j '-&H£: '•"*'"• ...by Vicki D. Syrett 679-8687 or vickidiane36@hotmail.com Congratulations to Clare and MaryLee Ramsay who just celebrated 50 years of Wedded Bliss. Their children and their families all met to celebrate this very wonderful occasion by going to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes together. They did this over the Easter Weekend and everyone except one grandson, Cole Shakespear, was able to attend. He is the son of Dennis and Brenda Shakespear. He is currently in the MTC preparing to go on his mission. They all went four-wheeling, picnicking, and Easter egg hunting. They had a delicious meal and then all went back to Kanab to enjoy desert. While they were there Clare and Mary Lee were surprised to receive a video that had been made full of fifty years of memories. It was very touching and a few tears fell as the memories were shared. Sharing in this very loving time with their parents were Vance and Jeannine Pollock and Sunny of Tropic, Shanon and Brie Pollock of Cedar, Dennis and Brenda Shakespear and three children from Kanab, Martin and Karla Ramsay of Tropic with their three kids and one grandchild, and Wade and Sherilinn Ramsay of Highland and their three kids. They all want their parents to know how much they love them and how grateful they are for them. We all think you are special people. Congratulations to Natalie Pollock who was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is the daughter of Gayle and Marie Pollock of Tropic and grandmother is Janet Pollock also of Tropic. The Tropic Ward Choir presented a beautiful Cantata on Easter Sunday and it was enjoyed by all. The Choir is under the direction of Karen Ott and the pianist is Cheri Feltner. Narrators were David Pollock and Sherril Ott. It was very well done and the voices were heavenly. Great job everyone. Rosalie Thompson, daughter of Joe and Trish Thompson, was nominated as an Entertainer of the Year at SUU. She was unable to attend the banquet and her mother, Trish, was out of town, so dad Joe went alone and had a great time and enjoyed the festivities. Duane and Carol Stewart had sons Clay and Mark home for the Easter Weekend. Clay and Sherrie came from Kanab and Mark and Marilyn came from Richfield. They both brought their children with them and all had a nice weekend. Art and Vicki Syrett had grandchildren, Jordan, Joseph, Joanna, and Joshua Jensen of Richfield with them. They are the children of David and Debbie Jensen who are jn Hawaii. Mike and Stacie Jensen of Enoch came on Sunday with Cambry, Makay, and Ian to celebrate Easter. They had to talk in church in Enoch so they came later in the afternoon and stayed until Monday evening when everyone went to Ruby's and enjoyed a great dinner together before going their separate ways. Mike and family back to Enoch, Vicki and the four kids from Richfield went back to Richfield where they stayed for the week. Charlie and Eva Dean Francisco had her niece and family visiting over the Easter Weekend.. Daughters of Utah Pioneers will be holding their Annual Convention at Ruby's Inn on the 29th of April. It will begin at 9:00 A.M. for book sales, and meetings will begin at 10:00 A.M. The Pahreah Camp (Tropic) of DUP had their monthly meeting in April. There were 13 in attendance and a delicious pie and cheese were served afterwards. Connie Bell gave the lesson on Wyoming, and Glenna Fletcher gave a Family History. It was a very nice meeting and we would like to invite anyone who is interested to come out and join us every third Monday at 3:00 P.M. Joni Mecham called to catch me up on what she has been doing. She is getting her Associates Degree from Snow College in Cosmetology and Barbaring. She has been attending classes in Richfield for the past two years and has done so well that she has been on the Dean's list for both years with a 3.9-4.0 average. Great work Joni. She has also been on the National Dean's List for that same time and will be walking with her graduating class in 28 April. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Phi Thedda Kappa. She is now fully licensed to practice what she has been so busy learning at Snow. Joni was invited to write a speech for the Commencement Ceremony and had to read it to the Graduating Council and was chosen to give her speech at Graduation. She will also earn her instructor's license for education and has been offered work being an instructor for a retail company. She said this fulfills a dream for her. Congratulations Joni. Landon Mecham, son of John Henry and Joni Mecham is in Salt Lake working as a diesel mechanic and on International rig trucks. He bought himself a race horse and has been training it to race. He also participates in chariot races and is loving it. Mother, Joni, says he is doing very well and is working hard. My Grandson, Jordan Jenson, went to a Student Council meeting with the Richfield Town Council. While he was there they talked about and showed some pictures of the Tropic City Streets that were just revamped. They liked them so well that they want to do the same in Richfield. Congratulations Tropic Planners, your famous. Rella Alvey had a lot of visitors over the Easter Weekend. Kenneth and Ida Alvey from Las Vegas came with Eric and Andrea Leavitt and baby De Ann. Larry and Carol Cloward and all their family came from Spanish Fork and West Valley. Florence Syrett and all of her family, Gayle and Marie Pollock and their children, Ken and Jean Hall, and Janet Pollock all met with everyone at the Tropic Firehouse where they had lunch, visited and had a great time. They then had the kids hunt for Easter eggs at the Park. The weather even cooperated. We are glad to hear that Jim Clarke is home and doing a lot better. We wish you a speedy recovery Jim.
