The new Mayor is Rachel Kanell and her Council are pictured from left to right: Robbie Gurr, Doo-Hyun Kwon, Crystal Smith, Bonnie Yardley, Melody Farnsworth, Rebecca Kanell, Kiera Oakden, Mayor Rachel Kanell, and Recorder Anona Yardley. Mayor Rachel and her Council wasted no time in executing their new positions as they assisted in Beaver's Birthday celebration. Thanks to the efforts of the whole community, the celebration was a great success and the council members enjoyed being a part of the party. They will be doing other projects, including conducting a telephone survey prepared by Beaver City Council. Lt Keith Draper Beaver County Correctional Facility Beaver Cai Ripken Baseball Sign ups for the Beaver Youth Baseball 2009 will be held on Mon. March 16th from 3:00 to 6:00 at the community center (under the library). This years fees will be $50 per child. Fee money will buy your child's hat and team picture. The rsst is put into the league for baseballs, equipment, chalk, umpires, insurance, machines and any other expenses it takes to run the program. At this time you can also pay the $20 concession fee for treats after the games. * Rookie league (machine pitch) for 1st & 2nd grade * Minor league for 3rd & 4th. A COPY of their birth certificate must be provided at the signups if it's their first year in Minor league. * Major league for 5th & 6th grade Late sign ups will be accepted until Mar. 20th. Total Precipitation Columns represent total inches of water received since October 1, 2008. ifi Jacey Leigh Evans Miss American Starlet The 2009 Miss American Starlet Pageant was held at the ST. George Dixie Center on March 7, 2009. It was a huge success, with girls from all over southern utah, arizona and mesquite competing for a title. Jacey Leigh Evans, 2 years old, was awarded a trophy for most personality, and then crowned the HIGH POINT Royal Queen title in the Tiny Miss Division. This was her second year to receive this High Point award. She won two beautiful trophies, a lovely crown and banner, a $200.00 savings bond, and secured her spot in the Grand National Finals in Palm Desert California this July. Her parents, Todd and Vanessa Evans of St. George and all of her family, including Grandparents Sue and Marlow Draper, want to tell her how proud they are of her and wish her luck at Nationals. Pvt. Jon A. Lindsay Graduates Army National Guard.Pvt. Jon A. Lindsay has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, pkla. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics. He is the son of Shannon Stone of Hoffner Edge Drive, Riverview, Fla., and grandson of Cathy Baggs of Beaver, Utah. The private is a 2007 graduate of Beaver High School. Delayed The Beaver City Pool will not be opening this week as schedualed, due to complications with the boiler. Repairs are being made, and the Pool should be up and running shortly. You may call the Pool's phone number at 438-5066, for a tenative opening date. We appreciate your patience, and understanding. Beaver City Will be opening Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, evenings starting March 5.
