Andy Hunt/NetXNews UVSC students demonstrate in an anti-war rally. Students in anti-war rally "War" cont'd from page AI Many at the rally were concerned with the different reasons for being in Iraq. "I think the justifications for why we are there are inappropriate. I understand that we are there for the freedom and protection for the Iraqi individuals, but those kinds of things need to be fought all across the world," said Kiyomi Bolick, President of the UVSC Democrats Club. 'The only reason we singled out Iraq is because of our own selfish economic interests." Ericson's concern lies mainly with U.S. foreign policy. "It's an unjust war. This war is not a war to defend our country. This has nothing to do with terrorism. If we want to deal with terrorism, we need to change U.S. foreign policy that provokes these people to commit terrorist acts against our nation." Others at the rally were frustrated with the way others view the war. "If you are for this war," John-Riley Harper, sophomore biology major, "it means you've been completely listening to lies for the past three years, and that you believe every one of them." Alarco was impressed with those that were involved in the protest. "It's a success that we did something. It may be a small group, but it is a beginning. There are a lot of people who agree with us, but aren't willing to stand out here." The rally drew over a dozen UVSC students, faculty and staff. Mayes, who is trying to start the "Pinko-Commie Club" on campus, said he hopes there are more of these. "Maybe we'll do this every Saturday." ' Looking for a great summer job, but...
