Soares has appeared on "The Today Show," "The Early Show," "Good Morning America," "Larry King Live," and "Oprah." Soares recently established the Lori Kay Soares Hacking Memorial Scholarhip Fund at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business. The scholarship is established to assist women who have been disadvantaged by financial hardship, abuse, family difficulties or other life circumstances. The Utah Department of Health, Violence and Injury Prevention Program said, "The greatest obstacles to identifying abuse are that the patient denies abuse and the patient does not want to talk about abuse." For this reason, domestic violence is referred to as the "hidden crime." The workshop is being offered to bring issues of domestic violence to the forefront. The workshop is sponsored by the Utah-County Domestic Violence Coalition, the Provo Police Department, and the Utah County Sheriff's office. The keynote address begins at 10 a.m., with workshops following. The event is free and open to the public. The Utah County Health and Justice Building is located at 151 S. University Avenue, Provo.
