The Career Services staff is a service proved to students, future students, alumni and employers. Career Services hosts a number of job fairs and expos yearly. Career Services offers career exploration, successful job search skills, advising and testing to help find that perfect career for you. Most importantly, they are strong connection between student and employer. Professors are excellent resource for internships, which often lead to employment; this makes them a good contact as well. Making a personal connection to your professors will help build a relationship that can extend past the last day of the semester. While professors don,t generally work in your field, they are familiar with it. They often have friends and colleagues that call on them for people to fill internship positions. Making a good impression on your professor can help land that internship that turns into your dream job. Making contact with a professional in your field can be an extremely beneficial connection. Visiting with a professional can help gather information about your field and they give great advice. Most professionals in your field remember what it was like to start out in the job market and are all too happy to talk about their careers. After you have met with a professional, maintain that relationships via e-mail. Checking in and re-establishing contact will help extend your network and keep your on their mind. Often, colleagues ask other colleagues if they know somebody good for a position ^ your professional may recommend you. Networking is the tool you need to land the job you want.
