At Saturday's Highland Games there were 18 different clan representatives who set up stations for people to learn about which family names come from which part of Scotland. Amanda Jensen, sophomore who's applied for the earlychildhood education program, said she's fascinated with her Celtic heritage. Her family name is associated with the Mclntire clan, she said. Johnson was sworn in Aug. 21, to a four-year term as Utah State University's newest Board of Trustee member. She is currently president of Futura Industries, Clearfield, Utah. She also served as president of Savage Manufacturing Corp., a subsidiary of Mack Trucks, Inc. She received a bachelor's degree in engineering from California Polytechnic, and attended graduate school at UC Irvine and Santa Clara University. She was recognized by Cal Polys College of Engineering as the 2006 outstanding alumni of the year. She said she hopes to use her engineering strengths and background to the benefit of USU. "Utah State University is one of the great secret treasures in Utah and in the western region," she said. "I'm excited to be part of the university in this capacity and leveraging the already outstanding reputation in the areas of engineering and space research for the benefit of the greater Utah community." Johnson is a member of the board of directors of'Zions First National Bank. She also serves on the board of directors for the Associated Regional and University Pathologists (ARUP), one of the leading clinical and anatomical pathology reference laboratories in the nation. She is currently a member and past chair of the board of trustees of Northern Utah Academy for Math Engineering and Science. In addition, she served as chair of the Utah State University College of Engineering Advisory Board for four years. The USU board of trustees is the top governing board of the university. Membership of the board of trustees consists of eight persons appointed by the governor of the state to fouryear terms, and two ex-officio members who are the president of the university's Alumni Association and the president of the student body of the university.
